Alvin Spain is back from vacation and excited to talk about the things he missed. He starts off by congratulating Jalen Brunson on his contract extension with the New York Knicks. Although Brunson left some money on the table, he did it to create salary cap room for the team. Alvin believes the Knicks are starting to build something special and the pressure is now on them to reward Brunson and build a competitive team. Alvin also discusses Russell Westbrook joining the Denver Nuggets and expresses his excitement for the upcoming NBA season. He then shifts gears to baseball, mentioning his love for the All-Star game and sharing his experience watching the Seattle Mariners play the Houston Astros. Overall, Alvin is looking forward to the upcoming seasons in both basketball and baseball. I'm back and I'm better than ever what's good everyone it's your boy Alvin Spain it's the Y-Sports podcast after a long vacation with my amazing wife we are back in the stack baby we're getting ready to rock and roll with this podcast talking about the things that I missed as we come back as we come back as well as dropping some big news for you guys as well cuz we're going to YouTube baby and we'll drop that in a little bit later but wow where do we start I mean just go by so many things that we missed we'll just start from the top with my man Jalen Brunson who started YouTube. So let's talk about that first off congratulations to Jalen Brunson big money kid hopefully the next time it will be the first time we meet lunch is going to be on you playa but awesome job for him getting that extension now as you heard from the breaking news on ESPN if he had waited one more year he could have signed another year extension a five-year extension to the tune of $213 million so $269 million for what he could have signed for but if he still remains an all-star after his contract he can still find a deal five years over I believe $300 million so good money for Jalen Brunson now I think the bigger question is here did he really leave money on the table well the answer to that is yes but then you start to wonder why did he leave that on the table well now he's trying to create some more salary cap room so the Knicks who are starting to build something very special back in Madison Square Garden something on a consistent level and again not to knock the Carmelo Anthony Knicks of 2000 but let's face it the Knicks haven't had this kind of real excitement since maybe that one year Carmelo had but not since clearly Patrick Ewing and the Knicks where they were constantly year in and year out a contender so this is what they're starting to build again so I'm excited for them but now the pressure is going to be on the New York Knicks because now if you have a player and like this doesn't happen very often and Russell's players should get their money should get their cheddar should get how much they deserve they should get paid whatever that market dictates to them so anytime they take they leave money off that table then they're trying to tell the team hey if I'm showing this way of good faith you better show yours you better resign all of these guys and let us be competitive in the free agency market so we can start to build something here in New York I applaud Jalen Brunson for that I don't know how many players would do that again I don't think they have to but this is a big thing for him not only a because he's going to end up being Mr. New York there was a cool picture with him and Aaron Judge the other day I mean you're looking at the two athletes that are going to run New York sports for the next decade um but these are the guys right now when Jalen Brunson he has made it he has stuck his point through his flag on the ground he is the captain of the New York Knicks right now this is his team and he's telling New York we're going to do it we're going to build something here a couple of weeks ago before we left we talked about how the Philadelphia 76ers they added Paul Georgian and made them up and it made them a top team now Jalen Brunson is trying to create that stability the Knicks were a two seed last year by all the way to the Eastern Conference semifinals they got injured late it's going to be interesting to see what they do with this extension or what they do with the money that Jalen Brunson quote-unquote left on the table and how well are they going to be able to continue to build this team and get them to that next level now speaking of Carmelo Anthony he did say you can't really make that money back and this was his quote now to give it all credence I believe this quote was given before we heard everything about the extension but this is still an interesting thing he said listen you can't make 113 million dollars off the court Anthony said people is busting their ass out there and they've been making 113 million off the court I'm talking about people who's been off the court or off the field for years and years who are the biggest stars out there they're not making a hundred million dollars off the court so that's right so right there is different so I'll say this he is right because what 113 million dollars is in 2024 probably will not be the same come 2025 as far as the value of it not being the same so you really have a hard time making this up but again one thing about him in New York he's going to get access and again I think with this deal people are going to he's going to get some marketing opportunities he may not make the money up here but I think this is where he's starting to establish that goodwill and it's starting to become like that flag bearer for the Knicks and sometimes that is priceless but again this will now go on back to the New York Knicks what are they going to do with this extra money and how are they going to reward Jalen Brunson because if it's not just on the contract you got to reward him with talent around him so they can continue to build in the Eastern Conference and build to a potential NBA champion so again shout out to Jalen Brunson awesome news awesome job by him other basketball news Russell Westbrook is now a nugget I am probably not I feel I'm in the minority in this I love Russell Westbrook I love his effort I love his skill everything about him I think he's as great of a player as you're going to have definitely going to be in the Hall of Fame he has worked with some amazing players before from the obviously the Oklahoma City Thunder with Kevin Durant probably still his best partnership he's worked with James Harden with the Clippers and the Rockets as a matter of fact and then he's had a chance to be with the Lakers with LeBron hasn't worked I love him in Denver I love him with Jalen with Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic I love him with that because a Russell still has some great athleticism so I think he can still be that player to get some of those rebounds be able to still now again I wouldn't trust in the shooter three mind you but I think his athleticism and his ability to break things down you can still open up the court for Nikola can still open the court for Jamal Murray so I love this for Russell Westbrook he took his buyout from the Clippers and is now going to be a Denver nugget I'm very excited for him and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes from here and the NBA right now this has been one of the better offseason I've really enjoyed this offseason because now you can really get to see who is that who's going to probably step up as the cream of the crop in the NBA this season I think this has been a great offseason so far some big news has come out and I'm actually looking very forward to the preseason and ultimately to the regular season to seeing these teams as they develop because again at the Eastern Conference for the first time in a long time looks so competitive it looks like it can match up to the West of course the Eastern Conference is home to the NBA champion Boston Celtics we talked about the improvement of the 76ers we got the Knicks stepping up the Indiana Pacers ain't going nowhere with Halliburton this is going to be a good time right now good time in in the NBA especially now you got the East going you got marquee franchises like the Celtics and Knicks going the Lakers have LeBron so they will always they will always be there San Antonio that historically great team especially in the past 20 years they're starting to come back with Chris Paul and Wemba Nyama so it'll be a fun season I think I can't wait to talk about it more as we get closer to the season so then we go from basketball let's shift gears to baseball and we miss well I got a chance to see a little bit of the all-star game on my cruise ship this I love the baseball all-star game I think it's the best all-star game in sports even with the removal of the winner gets home field let me be real at the time I loved it but after but then as I grew up is like I do not like that idea so much but yet they still bring the competitiveness yet they still bring the entertainment to it um where basketball is just I can't even sometimes follow that all-star game hockey is still pretty cool I enjoy the hockey all-star game and football well you know they bang their heads for 20 weeks a year so if they get to take a week off huh I'm not even I'm not even here to complain about that but the baseball offseason is fantastic I love it and as the second half has already gotten started and actually before I go into depth let me give a shout out to the city of Seattle my wife and I went there we went on an Alaskan cruise but we stayed a day after we depart and we stayed in the city we got a chance to see the Space Needle we got to go see the fish market but we also got a chance to see the Seattle Mariners play the Houston Astros so I talk about this on my podcast the Baltimore Orioles are still my very favorite team but as a couple me and my wife we actually were on a kiss cam when we went to Houston and went to the Houston Astros game so they've kind of we've adopted them as our as our team as a couple so we got a chance to go there and it was so much fun shout out to the Seattle fans my wife and I we were rocking our Houston Astros shirts but Seattle fans so classy so cool and I know we but I wouldn't get this in a lot of other places but they were phenomenal so shout out to the Seattle Mariners fan base it was a it was a funny time the ballpark is absolutely beautiful in person still pricey as anything but hey that's okay um Houston won that game 3-0 we got to stay for the fireworks show and we got to see the top 10 Seattle Mariner moments of all time and sometimes you forget but that team especially in the past 20 years has had some hall of fame players obviously the kid Ken Griffey jr. Ichiro Suzuki will be a Hall of Famer next year Felix Rodriguez I'm not not Roderick King Felix Hernandez excuse me um Enzo Martinez like even shout out to Jay Buehler the game started out with a tribute to Jamie Moyer as well there are some great players in Seattle and sometimes it kind of gets lost because they didn't win a championship but this has been one of the better teams especially in the early 2000s they had one they had arguably the greatest regular season of all time with over a hundred wins there obviously they didn't win the World Series but I think sometimes we sleep on the seat we sleep on the Seattle Mariners this is still historically and again and I'll say with more so within the past 20-25 years one of the best franchises in sports so I know I gave a little I probably went a little long with that but it's okay cuz it's my show but it was a great time it was a great experience and I hope we get it I hope I get to do that in every stadium and you know when as I go to a stadium definitely you know look for your boy I'll shout you out and and like to talk about the experience it's going to be so much fun we're going to it's still I'm still getting used to Akershore Stadium I will always call it Heinz Field I'm I know it's Akershore Stadium and we're going to see the Steelers play the Giants on our anniversary weekend so I'm looking forward to that all right so what do we do now after the all-star break obviously we've got the trade deadline coming up next week as teams will compete to get key players on the in the trade block hopefully for the Baltimore Orioles they'll find some way to get some more pitching and some more hitting in that in that trade deadline but it's just so great to see especially my team the Orioles being involved in this and not not sellers mind you but they're buyers and it's always so exciting to see that in this stretch because again come July 31st now they do have that waiver period that goes to August 31st but come July 31st this is pretty much going to be the team that's going to compete for the penny and ultimately a World Series so it's going to be interesting to see what deals get made before then as we as and I believe this is as of Thursday the top four teams of the odds of winning the World Series are the Los Angeles Dodgers the New York Yankees the Philadelphia Phillies who I believe have baseball's best record and my Baltimore Orioles are fourth they are Atlanta Cleveland and Houston round out the top seven Houston has been coming along Houston is a very very scary team I mean because of their experience because of those bats and because of their ability to play so well in October when I look at this list I will always now again I think with the Orioles having that experience from last year I think that'll help them out a lot obviously the Dodgers and Yankees broke the bank to get their teams but there is something about the Houston Astros that is scary still and also to that note going to the Seattle game they booed Jose Altuve they booed his ass right out of the stadium every time they went up the bank BOOOOOO all those cast of the seven ghosts out there man they were gooing at him man but that's again that's the rivalry that is Seattle and Houston but I think it's more so a rivalry between Seattle and Altuve but so we go from the All-Star break and we talk about the trade deadline let's talk let's give some love to some Hall of Famers this past weekend Adrian Beltre, Todd Helton, Jim Leva one of my favorite managers of all time and Joel Bauer were all inducted into the into the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown I've had the privilege of being there with my boys a couple years ago and it is if you have never been I highly recommend it I'm still trying to find a way to get myself to Canton for the football Hall of Fame but it's so cool now and it does make me feel old I remember these guys in their prime I remember Todd Helton I remember the big cat I remember all the hype when Joel Bauer came into the league he was like touted as the next big thing like the hottest prospect the number one pick in his draft to see how well obviously his career turned out is it is absolutely amazing Adrian Beltre a legend nearly 500 home runs in his career but for me it's Jim Leland this is a guy that I've had the privilege of following all the way back to the 1990s and getting to see his great Pittsburgh Pirates teams with Barry Bonds competing for championships of course his greatest work was in 1997 when the Florida Marlins won their World Series and then he had some great years with the Detroit Tigers um I will never forget the 2006 season when they came so close to winning the World Championship that year um he is baseball's one of baseball's greatest managers and he still looks good I mean my goodness when I saw those they're like Jim you can go manage out there right now um but again from the live sports podcast and you know as a fan of all of these guys and having the chance to see them truly in their prime and seeing why they actually got a chance to celebrate being Hall of Famers from our show congratulations to you four on a job well done and that leads us to who's gonna potentially be in there next year we talked about it earlier Ichiro if now I'm about to go on a rant there's only been one unanimous Hall of Famer voting and that was Mariano Rivera a couple years ago I don't know how Jerry Jeter wasn't unanimous I don't know how Tony Gwynn wasn't unanimous but I really wish Hall of Fame voters were held accountable because I'd like to see why they didn't vote for people that should have been flamed up I would like to meet the fool who don't pick Ichiro for the Hall of Fame I would like to meet that dude on why and like I would love love to hear his logic if there is such a word on why he did not elect Ichiro Suzuki to go on to the Hall of Fame I would love to I would love to meet that joker Ichiro Suzuki let me make let me make my point Ichiro Suzuki should be the second unanimous Hall of Famer greatest hitter in this side of the pack I mean nobody nobody did it better his speed is canon I'm an outfield one of the greatest ballplayers ever and the fact that he got to transition his greatness from Japan where he's a Hall of Famer there to here Major League Baseball it's a shame he did not win a World Series championship again we talked about that legendary team in Seattle in 2001 he was on it with the with Ken Griffey jr. it's a shame that they didn't get it but he is indeed one of baseball's greatest players CC Sabathia Andrew Jones Billy I think on the ballot for the eighth year now and then we talked about King Felix as well so 2025 has a potential being a really good all the same class and I think it will be headlined by Ichiro Suzuki just simply known as Ichiro one of the greatest ballplayers of all time in my opinion one of the greatest athletes of all time any sport he is just simply phenomenal so let's go take our game let's go take it from the Major League Baseball to NFL the things that we missed here and sadly we're going to start this with a some heartbreaking news and I learned about this on my cruise ship Jacoby Jones passed away known for his big catch against the Denver Broncos in the 2012 divisional round game a legendary Super Bowl return kickoff return for a touchdown one of the greatest definitely one of the greatest special teams players because he was absolutely phenomenal in kickoff and punt returns passed away I don't I'm still not aware of the cause of death but I'm 40 years old and you know I stand here four years older than him and so for Jacoby for him to lose his life that young it's absolutely heartbreaking again our condolences from the white sports podcast to the to the family of Jacoby Jones and again you are in our prayers because that is a that was a sad and shocking death and I tease you know being a Steeler fan and I know Jacoby broke my heart a couple of times as a Ravens ball player and of course he had that very controversial play with Mike Tomlin and I don't care I love Mike Tomlin I don't get what he said that brother was wrong that day for being on that field but um but Jacoby Jones again one of the greatest one of the greatest return men I've ever seen he he has some historic plays in the NFL playoffs with the especially the Ravens in that 2012 season brother you are you are going to be missing our condolences to you gone way too soon man very hard to transition from that but um we'll we'll talk about we'll go from Jacoby Jones to the Hall of Fame weekend that's coming up for the NFL next week and what a Hall of Fame class that is going into Ken Ohio next year yeah I talked about Jacoby being one of the greatest return men the greatest return man the greatest special team return man of all time Devin Hester is getting acknowledged and he's going to the Hall of Fame one of the greatest pass rushers of all time and Dwight Freeman one of the best wide receivers of all time Andre Johnson one of the absolute legendary pass rushers Julius Peppers is going in Patrick Willis legendary linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers Randy Gratishaw is a senior nominee but this one I want to talk about for a second because it's the other nominee I want to give a shout out to and that's Steve Mongo McMichael I want to highlight him a little bit more when we do our wrestling return podcast but um I remember saying this brother I'm the monsters of the midway one of the greatest of all time and then he entered in the ring of professional wrestling and he was absolutely amazing and now he's been dealing with ALS for a couple of years and it's been um very sad to see him go through what he's going through but I am so glad he gets honored he is definitely one of the best of all time and he'll get and he'll join Mike Singletary and William I'm not William Perry's not in the Hall of Fame I'm saying but um but Walter Payton is and he gets to join those guys as part of the monsters of the midway in the Hall of Fame but again Dwight Freeman he was absolutely phenomenal his run with the Colts was absolutely amazing Devin Hester the all-time return man leader in touchdowns he he was a game-changer and it's always interesting when I see Devin Hester before him was Dante Hall and I always wondered if Dante was staying healthy and Dante would have been here because and if you know you know that brother you put him you put him back there you can you can win a game of Madden with just Dante Hall back there Devin Hester you can win a game just with him returning kick every time he he was just so amazing I will never forget his kickoff return touchdown I believe it's Super Bowl 41 with the Bears and the and the Colts changed the game um and no knock no disrespect to Rex Grossman but if Chicago had a real quarterback Peyton Manning doesn't win that Super Bowl I mean because Chicago had great field position all night long all night long because the one time the first time they kicked it to Devin Hester was the last time they kicked it to Devin Hester um absolutely phenomenal Andre Johnson I wish he got to play with this Texans team I wish he got to play with a quarterback like CJ Stroud because boy if we thought Andre Johnson was great then and he was awesome and he worked with some quarterbacks boy Max Shaw probably the one that sticks out to my mind the most but that he was a baller oh and we never really gave him all that appreciation because he was with some good Texans teams but he was on a lot of average Texans teams and we really didn't get to see him on an elite consistent level like in the playoffs but that's this is that's a bad man bad man Julius Peppers of course went into a Hall of Fame again legendary rusher in his day and Patrick Woods was just a nightmare as a linebacker that middle linebacker position for the San Francisco 49ers retired early because of injury but I'm so so so glad he got he gets recognized and is going into the Hall of Fame so actually I'm going to then jump from the National Football League to the WNBA and they too had their all-star game this weekend team WNBA whooping team USA the women's team a week a goon ballet she was she was balling 34 points in her game and that game as well and Kayla Clark had a great game angel wreath had a great game this was just a fun this is just a fun game and to see the atmosphere in that game was unbelievable I will always say this I understand why Kayla Clark is not going into the Olympics because you know again I understand that and this is not me so much begging for her to be there but I'm so glad she got to play in this game but there is something about catching the iron while it's hot and the women that are going to represent team USA are going to kill it I don't have no doubt in my mind about that but it would have been great to see Kayla Clark hell it would've been great to see Angel Reese there too but I will tell myself this if they're not there in 2028 I'm gonna have a problem I'm gonna have a real problem but um those those two are going to be fire for this game for a very long time and I believe those comparisons to Magic and Bird are legitimate and there's something about those two that bring the best out of everything and it highlights the best out of out of women's professional basketball here in the states just a lot of love to those two and really to to all the WNBA all-stars we if you have not seen this moment it is our Y sports moment of the week Angel Reese after the game gave her shoes away and signed her shoes to a fan after the game it was so cute the young lady had a sign with all these Reese's pieces holding that sign she said I will trade these Reese's to you know to get an autograph from Angel and Angel you know and I and I say this because there's a lot of hate on and there's a lot of people who ignorantly hate on Angel Reese but when they come to moments like that I can't believe they'll be they'll be a little bit more quiet but this is one of the cool moments this is why we love sports and for that fan holding that holding that sign and having Angel Reese come she's gonna be hooked in the game to life because she's gonna remember that moment because in the midst of everything as tired as she was Angel Reese came back out not only signed that autograph but gave her her game-worn shoes that's how fans get made that's why we love sports so much so Angel Reese you get our love baby that was awesome that was very cool so um let's transition from the WNBA to the Olympics as I record this today on Thursday July 25th opening ceremonies are tomorrow July 26th the Olympics as I've talked about is my favorite favorite favorite sporting event the opening ceremonies always get to me it always is a special moment I think they're commercial I hope they're commercial free I'll be watching on Peacock but I love seeing the nation's go through I love the parade of nations the United States Great Britain Brazil is always fun I'm always biased to Sao Leon my parents our hometown when they get to come out and I got to see free time I get to see Sao Leon coming out to the Olympics this is the world state and for a couple of weeks and Lord knows this world has dealing with so much domestically internationally and this again we're not this is not the show to go on all these things but these Olympics have a way of bringing people together when we talk about the live sports podcast and why it's created because they come it finds its way to bring people together it finds its way for people who are just you know down or just sit and for a couple hours they get to see something that's bigger than them or get to see something that just takes their mind away and for those who get to love and respect their country and get to see that the highest level of competition they're going to come out and watch these games and it's so much fun it is so awesome to see that so I cannot wait for tomorrow let's kind of highlight some of the stories we talked about the US women's basketball team even though they lost we still feel they're going to win but you know they shake the confidence theory up a little bit but the men's team whoo LeBron who is the US flag bearer by the way congratulations to LeBron um oh boy I mean and he's he's doing his thing with USA men's basketball and this more than likely is LeBron's last Olympics but if there's anybody that can be in the Olympics at 42 years old or 43 or higher old he will be it's LeBron James um they need to get they better get consistent quick South Sudan shook them up Germany shook them up this is a team right now that you just feel like that they're going to be had Serbia um obviously with Nikola Jokic France who had three top draft picks this year and Webenyama the United States better be careful because they're gonna they can be had they can be had but I can't wait to watch that as well again shout out to LeBron and Diana Taurasi which will more than likely be their last Olympics but if anybody can do this again in four years and be at an elite level it is definitely those two but probably the story I'm looking forward to the most is the road to redemption for Sha'Carri Richardson on the last Olympics from for those who don't know her mother passed and she ultimately failed a drug test I believe with marijuana and so many people were so like how could she blow this opportunity and all of that you know and it was a sad thing but I'm gonna tell you something for as many people who ripped on her for doing what she had to deal with I hope those same people find the courage and find the strength to lift her up too because after all of that she's gonna she's gonna cast it in but she became better she improved herself and has found a way to in the Olympics if you see her in these trials has been absolutely killing it and I cannot see anyone else winning that hundred meter gold than Sha'Carri Richardson but again that's what makes the Olympics so much fun and we get to see the legends you know Shellyann Fraser-Price from Jamaica this is probably will be I every time I say that she keeps competing she's so amazing Molly Rocket probably the best nickname in sports she you know she'll be coming out the tremendous Jamaican sprinters will be coming out and doing their thing as well Dina Asher-Smith will be doing her best but I love track and field and I'm really looking forward to seeing the redemption story of Sha'Carri Richardson and it's just going to be amazing Katie like the Decky is doing her thing in the pool she has been absolutely phenomenal I'm so excited to see what she can do in Simone Biles we talked about that road to redemption I I would be amazed if anybody else walked off the all-around gold gymnastics gold medalist if it's anybody other than Simone Biles but that's the beauty about it the competition the pressure it's going to be so much fun and I cannot wait for the Olympics they start tomorrow night and it's again what we waited four years for and congratulations to Salt Lake City who win the 2034 I believe that's the winter Olympics so they get to host for the second time in Salt Lake so congratulations to them and some other news before we get to our final thing that we missed this week congratulations to Carlos Alcatraz defeating Novak Djokovic and it doesn't ultimately feel like this 23 year old has taken the torch of men's tennis he's won the last three majors and looks unbeatable he has been absolutely phenomenal I got a chance to see this game on the cruise ship and that brother is good that brother is real good and you know he's representing Spain of course legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal came from the same country so I don't know what they do down there in Spain because they but they are producing some legendary legendary players and Carlos Alcatraz is on his way to something real special for congratulations to him looking forward to seeing what he does in Flushing New York at the US Open so that takes us to our final thing of the final thing that we missed our final story and it talks we gotta talk about it the ESPN top 100 this list came out and it's a top 100 professional athletes since 2000 this was an interesting list to me um it's not so much complaining about the athletes that made it even though I look at this some people some people stick do stick out to me now they did try to capture all sports all around the world so with that being said Patrick Mahomes is 18th I think if they do this list five years from now he could easily be in the top five he could easily be in the top five right now he's already won three Super Bowl championships and he don't look like he's stopping Diana Taurasi who I believe is the highest-ranked basketball female basketball player here is number 21 I think she's this side of I'm trying to I was trying to think like Lisa Leslie or Tina Thompson but Diana Taurasi is a legendary player three-time NBA champion four-time NCAA top or three-time college champion she's just she's done it all she's been absolutely amazing you see Sidney Crosby is on this list at 23 you know little bias that Alexander Ovechkin didn't make the top 25 Peyton Manning just missed the top 25 at 26 but let's talk about some other key names in the top 10 Toby Bryant number 10 I got no problem with that legendary player Usain Bolt this is where my first issue will be at number nine Tiger Woods I don't know what to think about Tiger Woods his dominance was so much in the early to mid 2000 that over the past 13 years he has not he he's been I dare I say invisible but he's number eight huh it struck me it struck me a little bit Simone Biles is seven um again can't say much more about her she's amazing Roger Federer one of the greatest tennis players of all time at number six ah but number five and number four Tom Brady is number five LeBron James is number four let me say this nobody playfully hates Tom Brady more than me do you know how many championships he has stolen from the Pittsburgh Steelers nobody loves LeBron James more than me I love LeBron James there ain't no chance in hell LeBron James should be higher than Tom Brady I saw that and I that was okay and again we're picking four between four and five Tom Brady is probably the most accomplished athlete in North American sports and we can even argue across you know in the world with guys like Messi and all the Olympics like Michael Phelps and everything else like that seven times Super Bowl champion two-time MVP I he's he has literally every passing record of note and I ain't let me for the longest time oh he just got here because it's everything else like that but when that brother had to make a play that's the dude that you want there was nobody else you wanted in two minutes or less not I would want him more than even Ben Roethlisberger I wanted him more than even Peyton Manning and those are two brothers that could do their thing in the last two minutes but nobody and I repeat nobody did it at the level of Tom Brady I love LeBron James I have no problem with him being in the top five I have a slight problem with Tom Brady underneath him so I had to admit I had to address that because that was a little bit surprising Lionel Messi number three Serena Williams is number two and then Michael Phelps is number one I don't think I have a problem with Michael Phelps being one but I will say this when I saw him and Usain Bolt at the same time doing that thing in the Olympics in 2008 and 2012 I always thought Michael Phelps got more coverage even though I felt like he and Usain Bolt were doing were absolutely legendary and I think Usain kind of got lost so this is not me hating on Michael Phelps being number one when you hold 28 record 28 medals 23 gold you know I'm not complaining about him being number one I would just like to think Usain Bolt could have been a little bit higher because in his years he was as just as dominant now again in swimming I think you there's more possibility to win medals but let me not use that as an argument to the water down Michael Phelps record because you still got to be in it to win it and he was he definitely was a beast I don't even think I have a problem with him number one I just wish Usain Bolt got that same level of respect when Michael Phelps was doing his thing because they were both I mean they were the stories of their Olympics I mean they put they took their game to levels that I rarely see but I would love to see Usain Bolt for that get put up a little bit higher on this list because he is the highest ranked track and field athlete here at number nine but I really really wish that we looked at him I actually if somebody told me he could be higher than Tiger Woods I would not have a problem with that I love Simone Biles so I would probably move him up a little bit I understand why Tiger is there because his dominance especially in the early part of this century was just unmatched but there's a second half to it and he's kind of faded off big time so again it's an interesting list it did what it was supposed to do it got us talking as I go through again Aaron Donald number 20 he retired arguably the best defensive player this side of Lawrence Taylor that's how good Aaron Donald is and that's not a knock on JJ Watt or even TJ Watt but Aaron Donald was that dude Aaron Donald was that dude Albert Pujols number 24 Floyd Mayweather I believe he's the highest ranked boxer on this list is that 25 so they've got some great they've got some great names on this list Ichiro we talked about him earlier 37 Bonds is 38 I understand with everything with steroids but that brother should be up way higher as well and I know and that so when we go to YouTube that's going to be I can imagine the comments going there again Barry Bonds to me is simply the greatest hitter of all time and I and it makes me mad even that the fact that he even I linked the steroids because even before that there was a he was as good at the plate as anybody I've ever seen and I where he was amazing Tim Griffey was just natural that yeah it's a thing Tim Griffey has that swing that I wish I could teach my my ballplayers I wish I could I even try to mimic it but it just didn't look right on me but it just looks so unbelievably natural but it's been a it's a again it's a good list if you want to go check it out on ESPN.com um yeah it's like I said it's a very interesting it's a very interesting list um but man we missed a lot we talked a lot but we're good to be back so I and I will be closing this by saying next month and we will let you know the date when we do our first podcast in in August when we will take this show to YouTube when we'll be it because it will our
