While Tim was in New Mexico, Hect ended up in a different situation altogether. After the ride in the Thunderbird, he'd ended up stranded on Highway 80 with no water under a scorching sun. He'd climbed to the top of an overpass for shade and fell asleep. When he woke up a truck had parked under the overpass also. Hect hurriedly climbed down and convinced the trucker and his daughter to let him ride. They turned out to be con artists whose scheme was called the Poison Log Routine.
