After Olga's blunder whereby she admitted she had been deceiving Gaspard, the alligator responded by relishing her for supper, but before he ate, Olga offered to make a "deal" with him. At first skeptical, Gaspard nevertheless listened to the deal and the longer she went on the more convinced he became of the deal's possibilities. He had reservations, though, to which Olga responded with persuasive counteroffers. To say the final results were unexpected was an understatement.
