Olga, the fawn, goes for a cooling dip in Lake Nato and is caught in flood waters so that she is swept far from shore and meets Gaspard the alligator. Olga has to think fast to avoid being eaten and tries to persuade Gaspard she is really a caiman from South America. Although remaining unconvinced after a verbal exchange, the gator finally agrees to call in a third opinion of a passerby, a beaver, to try and settle their debate.
