Raised by Demons begins with an introduction to the netherworld inhabited with unworldly beings who take an interest in Henry's birth. Two hooded figures follow his young life and take delight in such misfortunes as his mother running over him in the car, a move to Bogota, Colombia and a revolution, his favorite dog being killed, and a perverse babysitter. Also, a source of pleasure to the netherworld beings was Henry being pushed down a flight of stairs. Not a good start in life at all.
