The polarization of the signal is an important factor in SAR. It is categorized into vertical and horizontal polarizations. Vertical polarization means the signal oscillates vertically to the surface, while horizontal polarization means it oscillates parallel to the surface. Different objects on the ground have different sensitivities to these polarized signals, which can be used for classification purposes. Another sensor's factor is the polarization of the signal. In SAR, the polarization is usually categorized into vertical and horizontal polarizations. Vertical polarization means the signal oscillates in the vertical direction to the surface. Horizontal polarization means the signal oscillates in the parallel direction to the surface. You can easily see the difference in the figure. Different structures of the objects on the ground have their sensitivity to the different polarized signals. We can use the property to do the classification. I will talk about it later.
