The speaker discusses their experiences of inviting neighbors to church and how sometimes no one answers the door. They then reflect on the verse from the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus encourages asking, seeking, and knocking, and how they apply it to their own life. They express their belief that if they ask, seek, and knock, God will answer, provide direction, and open doors. They acknowledge that the answers may differ from their expectations but emphasize that it is what they truly need. The speaker invites others to respond to God's invitation and assures them that they will be glad they did.
Many times in my life I have led his church to be faithful to the Great Commission by going out and knocking on doors to invite our neighbors to church and introduce them to our Lord. In doing so, we have knocked on many doors that no one answered. In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7, 7.
With that I understand, as his child, there are times in my life that I may feel forsaken and all alone in this crowded and dark world. But I am assured that if I only ask, he will answer. If I seek his direction, he will light the path before me. And if I knock on his door, he has promised he will open the door to his safe and secure dwelling. Now, when I get the answer to the question I was asking, it may be different than what I thought.
And when I find what I thought I was seeking, I may discover it was not what I thought it would be, but it has always been what I truly needed. Because when he opens his door to my knocking, the wisdom and peace of mind that comes over me is so refreshing. Please hear and respond to his invitation today. Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you.
You will be glad you did. This is Pastor Tim Howe of redletterwordsofjesus.com
