Jesus teaches in Matthew 6.25-34 not to worry about food, clothing, or the future. He points out how God takes care of the birds and the lilies, and asks why we worry when we can't change anything. Pastor Tim Hall emphasizes the importance of trusting God with our lives and not being afraid of the unknown future.
Jesus made a statement and asked a question in Matthew 6.25, Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Which of you, by worrying, can add one cubic to your statue? So why do you worry about your clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they neither toil nor spend, and yet I say to you that not even Solomon, in all his glory, was arrayed like one of these.
His statement bids me to ask, Have you ever seen a naked lily or a puny bird? They live where they are planted by God, and they stay in their lane, and God takes care of them. Cor. 10 Boone wrote, Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. You do realize the things most people worry about are things they cannot change.
We need to come to the realization that God is in charge, and it is our privilege to trust Him. This is Pastor Tim Hall of redletterwordsofjesus.com
