Nothing to say, yet
This is the first episode of the My Next Career Podcast, where they discuss various careers with people working in those fields. They mention that they will cover non-traditional careers like being an entrepreneur, musician, or actor. They encourage listeners to send in ideas for careers they want to learn more about. The host explains that the idea for the podcast came from their personal experience of not knowing what to do after high school. They tried college but realized it wasn't the right path for them. They emphasize that a college degree isn't necessary for all careers and that they were able to find success with just a high school diploma and hard work. They now have a fulfilling career, a family, and a dream house. The host encourages listeners to reflect on what they want to do for the rest of their lives and offers My Next Career as a resource to explore different career options. Welcome to the very first My Next Career Podcast. On these podcasts, we will go over careers that you are interested in. We're going to go over them with people on the front lines of these careers, and you get to hear their experiences firsthand. Some of you may be more interested in being an entrepreneur, a musician, or an actor. I point these out specifically as examples of things that might not fall under the traditional idea of career. I assure you that I am going to cover it all. However, I won't be able to do this without you. I'm going to leave my email in the description so you can send in ideas of careers that you want to hear about. Before we get too far, I want to make sure that I put emphasis on the fact that we are only covering the basics of what this podcast series will be and why I'm making it for you. I wish I had everyone here to talk to you today about the life they are living through their career. Unfortunately, you will only be hearing from me, but rest assured, I am in fact interesting. The idea of this podcast came from looking back to when I graduated high school. I was told over and over that I had plenty of time to figure out what I wanted to do. As time continued to pass, people said that less and less often. Eventually, it stopped altogether and I was left with a part-time job, living with my parents, and no clue what to do. At the age of 24, my dream of becoming a paid firefighter had faded some time ago and I was just winging it. I had no plan and no direction. I tried college for a couple years and decided that's not a path I could take. I've been told my whole life that if you don't have a degree, you won't amount to anything. That could not have been further from the truth. If your dream involves having a college degree, college is absolutely vital, but for my career, all you need is a high school diploma and a solid work ethic. Now that I have the proper training in my field and the experience needed for the more sought after job, I'm now able to support a family in a way I never thought I'd be able to do. I have a wife with two children, I have two dogs, and we have a picket fence around the house we always dreamed of, and my kids are in one of the best daycares in the area. I'm not a fan of the HOA, but when I pull into the driveway after a day at work, I feel accomplished and very proud. Now that you have a snapshot of what I went through, let's focus on you. Ask yourself, what do I want to do for the rest of my life? That's a scary question considering we only have a few years to figure it out. Are you desperately searching for what to do? Are you lost, wondering where you'll land? Do you already know what you want to do, but want to learn more about that career? Start here with me at My Next Career.
