Like, I don't feel like the other stuff overshadows the great. I think, and what do you mean? College basketball, for sure, for sure. For sure. He got an undefeated season under his belt. I mean. Now that's it. How many national championships has Dean Smith got? I mean, I hear you. I think, I think Bob Knapp's right there in that conversation. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. But we're not talking about rings. We're also talking about impact. We're also talking about legacy. You got to realize Coach K played for Bobby Knight. Like, you got to understand this. Like, it's not just, and you're talking about at a time where the college basketball landscape was much different than it became. The college basketball landscape that Bobby Knight coached under was a lot more competitive environment. It was a lot more parity. But he was that strong of a coach to be able to develop a program at Indiana that allowed him to be there even far past when people felt like, hey, man, we probably need to let coach go. But he was such a legend there that you couldn't because he had done so much already. You can't take away what he's done. It's just, you know, college basketball was different then. John Calipari got one ring, man. John Calipari got one ring. No, no, impact. So, are we really arguing that Bobby Knight didn't change the game of basketball? See, this is recency bias. You got to look at what was this man doing in the 70s and 80s? Like, everybody forgets that era of basketball, but he was a dominant figure in the sport, if not the dominant figure in the sport. Yes, y'all are. When you bring up John Calipari in a conversation about Bobby Knight, I feel like that's disrespectful. Now, to talk about a Coach K, I understand. To talk about a John Wooden, I understand. Talk about a Dean Smith, I understand. John Calipari, there's different halls in the Hall of Fame. Bobby Knight and John Calipari ain't on the same hallway. First of all, if you're talking about, first of all, first of all, see, because this is what you do. What you do is you come on this show and you go, you don't know what you're talking about when the data shows that you don't. So, that's number one. And number two, we cannot, like, you have to look at college basketball in the terms of eras. And when I'm talking about Bobby Knight, it's impact on the sport, legacy. Impact on the sport, legacy. And when you look at the last, that whole era of college basketball over the last, like, 20 years, it's very different than what it was in the 90s versus what it was in the 80s and 70s. These are completely different tiers of basketball. That's why I backed off of the Dean Smith situation because when I think of Dean Smith, I think of Dean Smith from the lens of the tail end of his career. But in going and doing research, you realize, oh, you don't understand what Dean Smith was on the come up, which is why I do understand, like, yeah, he's a tier above most of these pretty, if not all of these other coaches. And I do think Bobby Knight is at minimum top five. Minimum top five, though. I'm not, I don't, I don't want to get on the other side of the Calipari coin. I don't want to get on the other side of the Calipari coin because I don't want y'all to be disrespectful to Bobby Knight on this show and get on the other side of the Bobby Knight coin. You can build around because when we're talking about tears, like there's only I'm going to say there's one tier one quarterback in the league because he is the tier. Yeah. But here's the thing. How much how much of that are we seeing on the college level? How many of these guys who what quarterbacks are like we would consider dominant quote-unquote at the college level. For example, everybody's telling me that and I wasn't disagreeing with them coming into the season. But now I'm watching the games and I'm like, I mean that boy got a lot of developing to do when you think about Caleb Williams. Then y'all got to stop me. But again, you look at either one of them. I mean, neither of them is dominating the sport. Like when you look at and you're talking about college football. Matt Nagy, Matt Nagy when he was like, we need to trade up and get him. Mm-hmm. And it's also about like how hard it is to play that position. Like even a guy to a good like it's hard to sustain. Like we were like last like this version of Lamar Jackson. And now you look at this season is just like, oh, we were patient with him and he looks like an MVP candidate again. I don't know. Because the 49 is a playing the compensatory draft game, which a lot of people don't even understand. The NFL has all these rules that will get you extra draft picks and the 49 is take advantage of all of those rules rather.
