The speaker explains that sugars from fruits and honey are natural sugars but not the main problem. They categorize foods into four groups: carbohydrates, protein, fats, and alcohol. Carbs break down into sugar in the body, but it's the amount and source that matters. Protein helps build muscle and control cravings. Fats support the brain, hormones, and energy. Alcohol is processed like sugar and affects cravings, sleep, and fat storage. It's important to be mindful of consumption. Balanced eating is about understanding how different foods affect the body, not cutting out food groups. So you're probably thinking by now, wow, should I stop eating fruit or honey, those are natural sugars. Yes, sugars show up naturally, but that's not even the problem. Everything you eat will fall into one of the four categories you see on the screen. So let's start with carbohydrates, or carbs for short. Now these actually break down into sugar in your body. Now some naturally, some add it. Carbs are not bad. Don't ever let anyone tell you carbs are bad. It's really how much you're consuming and where they come from that matters. When it comes to protein, protein actually helps you build muscle. It helps you stay full, and it helps keep your cravings in check. And then moving on to fats, did you know that fats actually support not only your brain, but hormones as well as your energy? It's definitely not the enemy. You just need to have balance with it. And lastly, alcohol. Yes, the wine, the mixed drinks, all of it, if it's all in that category, it's alcohol. And technically it's in a category of its own, and your body actually processes it like sugar. So yes, it actually impacts your cravings, your sleep, as well as your fat storage. I'm not saying you can't have that glass of wine, but just be mindful about it and how much you're consuming. Everything you eat, as I stated, will fall into one of these buckets. Sugar is a type of carb, but not all carbs are created equal. The sugar in fruits actually will hit different than the sugar, let's say, in a Pop-Tart. And this isn't about demonetizing any food group. It's about getting clear on what you're actually eating and how your body responds to it. Balanced eating isn't about cutting, never, never, ever is it about cutting. It's about knowing what fuels you and what actually drains you.
