The Terrible Takes Podcast discusses various topics, including the upcoming combine and the debate between Caleb Williams and J.J. McCarthy. The hosts have different opinions about Williams' talent and leadership skills. They also discuss the potential draft picks for the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots. They debate whether Marvin Harrison Jr. is a better choice than other quarterbacks in the draft. The discussion includes arguments about the players' performances and the strength of the wide receiver class. Hello and welcome to the first ever edition of the Terrible Takes Podcast. My name is Evan Graffy, along with my good friend Max Summers and our producer Nick who is a less of a friend. We'll get to that later. So, how are you doing Max? Great, how are you? I'm fantastic. Me, how are you doing? You know, I'm doing good until you made that comment. Oh, okay. I guess we'll squash our beef as we go. So, it is combine season boys. What are your thoughts ahead of the combine? Max Summers. I don't really understand why you wouldn't participate if you're invited unless you are hurt. I can see why a running back or a lineman wouldn't necessarily do bench press because that's really the only thing you can get hurt in that isn't necessarily a solution. Max Summers, to the viewers who don't know, is a Caleb Williams hater. Is that fact? Is that true? No, I'm just a realist. I don't think anyone who says he's better than Burrow or better than Trevor Lawrence is just an idiot. I mean, how can you say that when every single person in the media, anyone with half a brain is saying he's a generational talent? And you hate him because he's not throwing in the combine. Both of them, both Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow have rings, upon rings, upon rings. Cool, sure. Caleb Williams went seven and five. I would say Caleb Williams is far more talented. And his teammates after the bowl game said we were finally a team now when he didn't play. Can we side check that, Nick? Yeah, we'll look that up. But the main thing I have is you don't like Caleb because he's not throwing at the combine. I don't like Caleb because I think he's overrated. Why would he throw at the combine? He has nothing to gain. Why wouldn't you throw at the combine? Why wouldn't you? Nothing to gain. You're throwing a full ball. There's no point. It's a business decision. At the end of the day, it's a business decision. That's the problem. I don't want my quarterback making business decisions. And you love J.J. McCarthy so much, by the way. Max Summers is a diehard Michigan fan. Is that fair? Yes, it is. And you love J.J. McCarthy so much because he's throwing. That's why I love him. He has everything to prove. He has everything to prove. He played in a run-heavy offense at Michigan, and he needs to prove that he can throw the ball down the field. Is that fair? Want to know what he doesn't need to prove? Sure. That he can win. Sure. Want to know what Caleb Williams needs to prove? That he can win. Want to know what the most important stat in football is? Not for a quarterback. I disagree. Winning is not a quarterback stat. I'm a Browns fan, too, as long as a Michigan fan. Do you think I give a rat's ass how they were winning football games? I don't think we can swear at Max Summers, but I guess we'll just keep going. Well, we can swear. Oh, okay. Do you think I care at all if the Browns won football games? The Browns were a horrible football team to watch offensively. Awful. Awful, awful, awful. But they won. They made the playoffs. Who cares? Can I ask you a question? Can I ask you a question? Do you think J.J. McCarthy was the reason they were the national championship? I think he's a bigger reason. A moment of silence. Yeah, he couldn't have been. I think he's a bigger reason than people give him credit for. Like I said off-air, I do not think Michigan won the national championship with Caleb Williams. That's insane. But if you ask Caleb Williams to hand the ball out 14 times in a row, he's going to do it. Again, I don't care how you win. You win. It's not that difficult. Did J.J. McCarthy not orchestrate a game-winning drive against Alabama? No, I'm not dogging on him. He's a good player. Did you? There's no way he's better. Wait, are you saying he's better than Caleb? Is that what you're saying? I don't think he's a better prospect than Caleb. I think he'll be a better NFL quarterback than Caleb. I don't think Caleb Williams is going to be a good NFL quarterback. Okay. Can we switch gears here a little bit? One second. Did you see the play J.J. made against Alabama? Which play? I mean, you know the play. Do I know the play? I would hope. Which play? The most athletic play a quarterback's ever made. Can you run it back for me? Remind me? Do I have my memory? He pitches to the running back, goes out to a flat to catch a pass. Oh, okay. It was a cool play. Good catch play. And then proceeds to make a 40-yard throw downfield. It was a good play. I'm not dogging on him. I truly believe I don't think there's a quarterback that can do that. I mean, Justin Felix can do that. Exactly. That's the other point. That's the other part of this argument with Caleb Williams that I don't. Maybe I'm not. Maybe that's part of the reason I don't like him. The Bears should not take Caleb Williams. Okay. Explain why. For the viewers who do not know, which you don't, I am a die-hard Bears fan. I love Justin Felix. My password to every single account is jfield21 with an exclamation point. Probably should have said that on a podcast. You're right. That's a great point. It's not jfield21. It's not that. It's calebwilliams21. But, yeah, so why do you hate him so much? I don't know. Why do I hate him? I just don't. Oh, right, yeah. I think he'll be a bust for one. I don't think he's a good leader. Did we get that fact check? I did not find that. I know that it happened. There are UHC teammates that think he's a great guy. Like, he's awesome. Have you ever heard somebody say, oh, he's a dick? I mean, they didn't go out of their way to say he was a dick. Has anybody ever said that? Have you heard that from anybody? But, I mean, everyone I have seen has said Caleb Williams is a good guy. Have you ever heard somebody say that? You've got to consider the fact that he was coming out of his camp, that he won an ownership in an NFL team. I'm not sure that's true. I'm not sure that's true. If that's true, then that's not true. I don't think it is. And there are rumors about how he didn't want to play for Chicago, that he was going to go back to USC. And those rumors, as of today, have been debunked. He said, I would love to play for Chicago. Or what was the quote, Nick? You said it? I believe it was, if Chicago takes me with the number one pick, I'd be thrilled to play with them. If anyone else takes me, I'd also be thrilled. Yeah, he doesn't care. What's he going to say? He doesn't care. What's he going to say? Attitude problems are not there. If he had attitude problems, then he would have said, oh, I don't want to play for the Bears. He's not going to play in the L.A. Manatee. And that's good. That's good. And, obviously, we don't know. The Bears had their meeting today with Caleb Williams today. And, I mean, I believe Rand Paul is going to make the decision. I don't know. I was not on my phone. Did they meet with the guy that I think they should take? Who? J.J. Morris? Marvin Harrison, Jr.? I assume. Well, I don't know. Has he met with Morris yet? Because I know the Patriots should talk to the Philly quarterbacks. Yeah. Who did they talk to? The Patriots? Yeah. They talked to Jalen Daniels, Drake May, and Caleb Williams. They just talked to the top three. They're done. Why are they done? They're not going to talk to the top three quarterbacks, Max? I mean, as a Bears fan, I would definitely not like if we just stayed at one and picked Marvin Harrison at one. I would hate that. It's either you pick Caleb Williams and then hope to get a Doomsday or Neighbors and, like, I think we picked ninth or eighth. Ninth, I think. Ninth. Or we trade back for a bunch of picks and we plan for the future and then Justin Fields is our guy. But I don't really believe in the fact that Marvin Harrison should be the first player off the board if you're the Bears. But how far can you trade back to get him? Philly? I don't know. I mean. As a Patriots fan, absolutely, if he's on the board, you have to take him. Well, yeah. Over Jalen Daniels, over Drake May. The Patriots? Yeah. Yeah, for sure. I don't think it's close. Jalen Daniels, Drake May, J.J. McCarthy, fucking Panics, or Bo Nicks, they're not going to do anything with the who's who of literally who the hell are they have received this. You mean a Devontae Parker? Yeah. Devontae Parker. Maybe Kendrick Bourne for these guys. Six years out of his prime. But I don't see the rationale behind picking Marvin Harrison number one. Because he's a neighbor. With this stack of receivers. It's not stacked. It is stacked. I've watched them all play. Marvin Harrison is significantly better than both of them. Marvin Harrison is awesome. I think neighbors would easily be the number one receiver. Neighbors would be good, but it's not even close. Roma Doonsay, I watched him play from an all-22 angle for a whole game. He fell out of two routes. The biggest game of his career. Was it not? Sure, yeah. He fell out of two routes. He fell out of two routes. He didn't have a good game. Marvin Harrison didn't have a bad game? He had one big touch in the fourth quarter when the game was already out. Marvin's never had a bad game. He didn't play bad against Michigan. He was fine. He was the best player, best receiver Michigan faced by far. I just think judging a player off of one game against your favorite team is probably not the best way. Hold on. Who had the best defense in college football? Michigan. Okay, so they're playing the best defense in college football. I feel like that's a good judgment. The defense has 12 players in the combat. I'm not going to judge a player off of one game. I'm just not going to do that. It seems irrational and, yeah. Here's the question, though. Do you think the quarterback class or the wide receiver class is better? Oh, that's a good one. Well, I mean, obviously, they are. Obviously, Caleb is, quote, unquote, generational. Marvin is also generational. I would say in the second tier for receivers, you've got Adunze, Nabors. Who else is not second tier? I'm trying to think. Adunze, Nabors, and there's one more that I'm also not thinking of. Yeah, I'm forgetting. I mean, obviously, the quarterback class, second tier is May and Daniels. It's tough. I mean, I think me personally, just from the depth of the wide receiver class, it's probably the wide receiver class because there's so many good guys you can get in, like, day two and day three. I can't remember. Yeah, the top three wide receivers are Marvin Harrison, Malik Nabors. I mean, we know who the top three are. Brian Thomas. Brian Thomas, LSU, yeah, he's really good. Troy Franklin. I also have a general rule that I don't take the two receivers on a college team. Okay. Genius. I mean, on here, they have number six is Ladd McCauley out of Georgia. Wait, so you wouldn't take Jamar Chase or? Jamar Chase was the number one. Justin Jefferson. Justin Jefferson was the number one the year after Jamar Chase was the number one. Yeah, but they played the same team, though. Yeah, okay, so Jamar Chase was the one. Justin Jefferson was the two. Oh, so you wouldn't take the second guy? What? They entered the draft class at the same time. They didn't enter the draft class at the same time. Oh, okay, okay. That's true. I'm trying to think if there's ever been a lot of these band of guys. There was Ruggs and Judy. Okay, that was ridiculous. I mean, and Ruggs hit a guy in his car, so it checked out. You're right there. I think there's a woman. The Browns took Cedric Tillman when Jalen Hyatt was already up the board. That hasn't gone on. I mean, it's first year. What about Ohio State? They've had some good number twos. Not at the same time. Are they not? I'm trying to think. I feel like there definitely has been. I mean, you had Olave and Garrett, yeah. Olave and Garrett Wilson, but that worked out. Yeah, that's fine. The one you brought up was also generational wide receiver room, and then you brought up another generational wide receiver room. There's obviously exceptions to the rule, but I was more speaking on what I've seen from two. You'll have the one receiver go in the second round, and then the two receiver ends up in the fourth round, and you're expecting something, and it just doesn't come. So you wouldn't pick either Neighbors or Brian Thomas or Polk a due day? Polk played better in the game that I watched him. Polk was the best receiver on the field in the game that I watched the closest. All right, so let's go back to your field thing. So obviously you think the Bears should keep fields. Why would you say that? Who's he got to throw? Who's he throwing to? Who's blocking for him? Who's he handing to? He's handing the ball off to a good back. That's fine. He runs. His offensive coordinator and coach are morons. They're dumb for not firing him. I would definitely – so I would say when the season ended, if I was Ryan Brody. You didn't even have that bad of a season. Yeah. It was extremely mediocre. It was about what we expected, but we definitely should have won more games. For all of the fans every year, you think you're going to make the playoffs for God knows what reason, and then all of a sudden it starts bad as the sky is falling, but you played good at the end of the year, and you're still complaining. I mean, we've been bad since 2018. And even in 2018, it was all our defense. But I feel like Bears fans have reason to complain. We deserve way better. We've won a Super Bowl since 1985. And Justin Fields is the best Ferris quarterback since 1985. Yeah, sure. I'm more talented, you would say? I'd say he's better than Jay Cutler. Yeah, I mean, he's far more talented. I think Justin Fields is one of the most talented quarterbacks That's a biased take. That's like Jay Jay's the top quarterback. Yeah, I wouldn't even say Jay Jay. That's more of a biased take than mine. I think Jay Jay should be the third quarterback off the board. So who do you think is above? Jalen Daniels. Who do I think personally, or who do I think? Yeah, what's your rating? What's your rating? Either way. As a prospect, I'd say he should be three. I don't really understand why Jalen Daniels is getting more hype. Do you want the hype? I think it's Jaden Daniels, actually, with a D. I mix this up because there's a Jalen Daniels in Kansas. There's a Jaden Davis, who's maybe Michigan's quarterback. He's a freshman. And then there's a Jaden Daniels. There's a Jaden Daniels. So I always mix those three up. It's a pleasure to be inside Max Summers' head. That's incredible. That was awesome. I don't get the Jaden Daniels hype just because he won the Heisman and he played in an offense that just throws the ball. I mean, he had like 60% of his touchdowns in yards or something against teams that are horrible. Well, I mean, I think when you look at the tools, you know, he's fast as hell. He can throw the ball super far down the field. JJ runs a 5'4". No, I also think JJ is super moldable. He has so much potential. But, I mean, I think Jaden doesn't get the hype. I think that's the hype. What's the speed at? Give me one good reason why Jaden Daniels should go ahead of JJ. I mean, I haven't explored them that much. But, I mean, I would say Caleb and then Drake. We don't know if Drake is number two. I also think JJ could end up. I don't know if I do. I really like Drake as a prospect. I also like Jaden Daniels as a prospect. I also love Michael Panix as a prospect. I don't love Caleb Williams. I like Caleb Williams as a prospect. I don't like that. I think Panix is going to be the second-best NFL quarterback in the state. No. He's like 25, maybe even older. He's had so many injuries in the past. I think his. He hasn't gotten injured once in the last two years. Yeah, but two ACLs, he has a major history of injuries. He's old, too. I don't. He's old. Oh, boy. He's 25. So is Baker. Baker was 24. Okay, cool. I mean, I wouldn't say he's amazing. Baker's good. He's okay. He's a decent athlete. He's okay. Top 50, top half. I mean, I'm winning a Super Bowl with Baker Mayfield, though. I think you're going to win a Super Bowl with Baker Mayfield. If you're drafting Michael Panix, you expect, or if you're drafting in the first round, a quarterback, you're expecting him to win a Super Bowl. I don't think Michael Panix is going first round. Did you say you could win a Super Bowl with Brock Burdy? I mean, that's Shanahan, though. Shanahan's the one. Oh, Shanahan. One of the guys. So if Baker was with Shanahan, he could win a Super Bowl. Yeah, absolutely. Okay, so. Anyone can win. Yeah, sure. He actually was good with Michael Panix. That's what I'm saying. He was good. I mean, he was good one game. He was actually good two games. He played multiple games. He was amazing that Thursday night. He was good. You just didn't watch the game on Christmas, huh? I mean, it was a while ago. I know he played one really good game. He was really good on Christmas. He won. He was okay. After being there for a week. No, yeah, it was a hell of a game. But you're not winning because of Baker Mayfield. But you're not losing because of those guys. Yeah, exactly. They're game managers. I don't see a good reason for Jaden Daniels to go ahead of JJ. I mean, I would definitely say JJ ahead of Panix. Oh, next. Yeah. I mean, there's no way he's anything lower than four. No, yeah, for sure. It's 3A, 3B. JJ and Daniels. And I don't know. Like I said, I don't know if it will happen. I don't think it will happen. I think it could happen. I think JJ could go second. That would be wild. That would be crazy. I think Drake Mayfield will be a good NFL quarterback. I do. What did he do? They were so disappointed. I think we're 8-6. I don't put a lot of weight on that. You obviously do because you want to. See, for those listeners who don't know, Max is very big on if you win in college, you win in the NFL. If you lose in college, you lose in the NFL. I just don't believe that. How was the last UNC quarterback? Patrick Mahomes. I'm not sure he did that well in college. The Red Raiders, baby. Sick team. I love pick-and-packs. But they weren't that good when he was there. He threw for 600 yards a game. His stats are insane. Against teams that have top- It doesn't matter. He won the Heisman. He threw for 199 yards. He won the Heisman. Yeah, how did he play against Utah? Oh, he got hurt in that game because he's a pussy. But in the Pat Mahomes thing, you just said, oh, that's acceptable because he had a bunch of stats. It's the same thing with Caleb Williams. Even though he didn't really win. Caleb Williams was throwing to Jordan Addison that year. Did Patrick Mahomes have a Jordan Addison? I don't remember. No, he didn't. I don't remember. He didn't have anyone this year. Caleb Williams. Yeah. You're saying that Caleb Williams didn't have anyone. No one amazing. I mean, it was Brendan Rice who was at Jerry Rice's time. He was in the draft. It's high fours and five stars that he's throwing to. Mahomes is throwing to twos and threes. He put the team on his back, bro. I mean, I don't want to bring up JJ again because it's a trigger word on this podcast already. But he- Whatever. It's- I don't know. Anyone want to take it? Anyone else have another idea? I'm just- Drake Mays. We were talking about- We weren't even talking about Caleb Williams. I don't even know how that got brought up. I'm just saying I could see JJ through his personality and through how he does at the combine jump him to twos. I think it's popular. I mean, if you go by Max's thing, the only quarterback to win in this draft class in the first round is probably JJ. No, I mean, Penix is our next kid. That's our first draft draft. Penix did. Yeah, I would say- Yeah, I mean, if it's- If it's first round, yeah. Those top three picks never really won in college. Well- They would be the- Like, their teams were- Where did- Where did that team start ranked? Which one? Jane Daniels, LSU. Where did they start ranked and where did they finish? Just say, oh- They were eighth, I think, they played off. No, they were not eighth. I'm pretty sure they were eighth. They were not. They were. You're telling me you think they started off as eighth. Yeah, I'm actually a little more certain of it. I mean, they- Yeah, who did they play first? Oh, just kidding. First week. Our first game, yeah. It was eighth versus five. Yeah, it was a good matchup. I don't know why I know that, but- What happened to George Travis? Is his knee just like- His ACL is gone. I mean, he broke his leg. He might be like a six-yard pick. I think, honestly, that's not bad. That's what- Not about a late-round flyer, but- Yeah, if he's on the void, might as well take it. Yeah, LSU was five for a state with it. Okay. So, they were ranked five in the country to open the year. Yeah. In the end. So, let's look at expectations here. UNC, 21. They finished unranked. Michigan was, what, four or three? USC was six. They finished unranked. LSU was five and they finished about 13. Michigan was two. What did they finish? Did they win the championship? Did they win the national championship? I think they played Washington- No, I think they lost to Washington. I'm pretty sure they lost to Washington, right? Michael Corks, like, blew up. Yeah, JJ threw, like, eight picks in that game. It was horrible. He put his team on his back. He had to play club the whole game. He was bad, bro. Put his team on his back. Yet they're ranked six in the preseason. Michigan's amazing. I'm not dogging JJ McCarthy. And maybe you have something about how Gale Williams didn't rise up to the occasion, or JJ didn't rise up to the occasion. He didn't win a big game. Single big game. When the Chips were down- This year? Let's see. No, last year. When the Chips were down, did he win a game? I don't remember. He lost to Utah. Maybe you have something to that. Maybe. His record in the last three years against Utah is 0-3. But your reasoning- He hasn't beaten Utah. I think saying he's a bust is extremely irrational. I think he's going to- That's a different argument. I think he'll be a bust. I don't think his skills translate. I don't think he's as good as a passer as people think he is. What are his skills? I think he's a- He's a magician. He's a magician who is Patrick Mahomes in air quotes. He plays like Patrick Mahomes in college. I think that's fair to say. But I don't think he throws like people think he can throw in the NFL. You don't think he can throw? Have you seen his- I don't think he's as good of a thrower as people think he is. In terms of what? Like, in structure? Out of structure? Because out of structure he's insane. In structure he may have an argument, but- Yeah, but out of- His arm talent is one of one. Yeah, right. Okay, so you made my argument. What? What? You made my argument. Explain. In structure, there are questions. Like- No, I- Are you going to be able to do as much- People have said that. Can you do as much out of structure in the NFL that you can do in college? I mean, I think a lot of the game is out of structure. I think Pat Mahomes has proved that. Okay, are we really- If your argument is that you think he's going to be Patrick Mahomes- People have compared him to Pat Mahomes. Then we can- If you think he can actually beat Patrick Mahomes, we can just move on at this point. I think he has- There's no reason to argue it. All the potential in the world. That is not- Patrick Mahomes is the most talented quarterback ever. And people have compared Caleb Williams to Pat Mahomes. And I'm calling bullshit. I think it's possible. I'm calling bullshit. Okay, fair. Fair. Fair. Again, I keep trying to talk about Drake May and it comes up. But like I said, Caleb Williams didn't win a single big game in his college career. Can we switch to Drake May for a second? Yes. Okay, so obviously Mitch Trubisky is from UNC. He was drafted number two overall. The Chicago Bears. I think I was 12 years old. I did not stop crying. That was the worst day of my life. He was horrible. I mean, he wasn't horrible. He was just very mediocre. Imagine if the Bears picked Drake May, a UNC quarterback. Bro, I would not be able to- This is a patriotic day today. I mean, I think yours is more of a- That one's more of a, oh my God, here we go again. Mine is that? No, mine. I think mine is here we go again. I mean, I think the Patriots track record as a Michigan quarterback is pretty good. Do you think J.J. could be picked before Drake? Yeah, I think it's possible. I don't think it'll happen, but I think it could happen. It could happen. I think the way that he performs to combat- If he runs below- If he runs in the 4-4's- J.J.? Uh-huh. Okay. If he runs in the 4-4's, and he throws well, and he interviews well, I think he can- But, I mean, the Patriots didn't even meet with him. However, the other reason I think he could go ahead of Drake May is that I'd have to look at who- The draft order again, because I always forget it. Washington is 2, right? Washington is 2. And then Pat's 3. And then Arizona's 3. And then Chargers at 5. Really? Yeah. Wait, Chargers at 5? Yeah. It's like Joe Waltz. No. He's a passage tree. I think the Chargers pick so easy. Brock Bowers? Undoubtedly, it would be Brock Bowers. I forgot about it, yeah. I don't even think it's an argument. I'd be shocked if it wasn't anybody other than Brock Bowers. It's just- He's hardball. It's just the definition of hardball. When do the Broncos pick? I want to say that might be 8. Let me check. So, I think there's a chance that nobody- No quarterback gets taken again until 8. So, it would be Williams, Drake. Pass would be the quarterback, though? You don't think so? I don't think they should take a quarterback. Denver picks at 12. So, what is 8? So, it goes Chicago, Washington- For sake of argument, we'll say quarterback. So, yeah. Washington, quarterback. No, I'm saying- For the sake of this argument, I'm saying that's not a quarterback. And I think it's possible that it's not a quarterback. I think it's not probable, but it's possible. That Washington would be a quarterback? I think it's possible. I mean, how old's the guy? I think you could give him a- I'm just saying this is a scenario that I think is something that could happen. I think if quarterbacks go 1-2, I think Drake may go second. I don't think JJ can get to second. Okay. Number 3, New England. I don't think they should take a quarterback. They should take a quarterback. They might. It's just a waste. Okay. Number 4, Arizona. I don't think they'll take a quarterback. Yeah, that's easily marked. Seriously? Oh, no. I think 3 is Marv. He doesn't go 1. Oh. And I could see him going- In this scenario, I think Marv- In this scenario, I could see this- I could see Marv going to the one that we're talking about now. No, I think Quinn wants his guy. Because Howell was all Rivera's guy. So I don't think- I'm just saying- I think it's possible. I would be surprised if they didn't. I'm thinking it's possible. I think 1-2 is top 3, though. Yeah. So we're at what? 6? Who's 6? I think 5. 5 is Harbaugh. I think top 3 is quarterback. 6 is Giants. Receiver, definitely. I think that's probably the number 2 receiver. Yeah. Okay. Then Tennessee. That's probably Joel. That's probably Joel. So, again, I think it's possible- I think it's possible- Who's 8? Atlanta. And then there's a 9. Yeah. And then 10? Possibly a straight spot. Justin Fields to Atlanta's base pick? Imagine that, bro. That'd be crazy. Maybe- I mean- As I'm saying this, I think it's possible J.J. ends up the fourth quarterback to hate him. Yeah, yeah. I think Jane Daniels is a better fit for the Falcons. I think it's 3 or 4 for sure. So do you think he's going top 10, Matt? No. I don't see where he would go top 10. If he doesn't go to Atlanta, he's not going to go in the top 10 unless Denver trades up for him. So the three teams that could trade up for him are Denver, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh. Yeah. But- Pittsburgh's at 20. And I think the lowest J.J. goes is to the Lions. I don't think the Lions would let him- I think the fans would ride if they pass on J.J. That'd be wild, man. That'd be crazy. Michigan boy. He's not a Michigan boy. Where's he from? Where is he from? Where is he from? I don't know. You really don't know? I think you told me a few nights ago about Chicago. Chicago. Is he from Chicago? Yeah. But a suburb, though. Yeah. Do you know which one? Like Naperville, probably? It's close to- No. It's close to Naperville. Schaumburg? Lincoln Park? I'm looking it up now. Okay. Oh, Chicago, guys. The Green Park. Oh, okay. Oh, I know someone from there. Yeah. Wow. Should we give him a little shout out? Uh, no. Is he from Fogg? No, no. Oh, not Fogg. Actually, that's a perfect segue. All right, hold on. Just a little bit. Okay. I could see him going, I don't think he should- But I don't think he's a fit in that lane. I don't want him to go to Atlanta, as a Michigan fan. I don't want him to go to Atlanta. I definitely don't want him to go to Pittsburgh. I'd literally cry if he went to Pittsburgh, because I'm a Browns fan, and I don't even know- Okay, well, 13, you have Las Vegas. They could easily take that. And I want him to go to Vegas with the situation. He's about to add up stays in Vegas. I think they confirmed yesterday that he was staying in Vegas. Oh, then I'm perfect. I'm definitely down with him going to Vegas, but I don't like that division. Okay. That's a tough decision. Then you have New Orleans at 14. There you go. Because I don't like New Orleans, and I think that team's just- But that's not a horrible offense. He's in card locked up, though. I'm pretty sure card's there for like a while. Do you care? I guess. That's fair. But I mean, I'd say they could probably defoes, because like an edge player, like they always do. Yeah, they'll probably defoes. And then you have Seattle at 16. Would they take quarterback first round? That was Michigan's old defensive coordinator from J.J.'s freshman year, as well. Yeah, I wouldn't even know that. That's impressive. How is that even- I get why you wouldn't, but how, for me, is that impressive? No, yeah. I'm saying it's impressive. Yeah. Well, no. I'm saying, like, why wouldn't I know that? I mean, sure, yeah. It's a very impressive thing to know. So, I'd be fine with that. I don't know. I- Okay, then you have Jacksonville at 16, not taking a quarterback. L.A., probably not. I think that's another J.J.'s spot. L.A.? Wait for it. First round? No way. That'd be stupid. I mean, they have such a better state on the bench. I mean, they think they're going to win a Super Bowl, then they're dumb. They won it with Stafford. Would you really- you think they're pushing for another Super Bowl? Of course. Every team is doing that. No, they're not. That's just not- As a Patriots- Take a quarterback and just piss off Stafford. As a Patriots fan, we are pushing for a playoff spot. Just piss off Stafford. I don't like Dave Portman. Yeah, okay. All right, what? Want to pivot, or any final thoughts? You know, I'm hopeful that J.J. at the confinement will be able to push himself up to 2, but I also don't think he's going to go 2 overall, nor do I want him to go to Washington. Yeah, and I would say, as a Bears fan, I have no idea- I also said the other day- He's interrupting me. Sorry. It's fine. It's fine. You also brought up the Bears. I also don't think it'd be a bad move for the Bears to take Marvin on J.J. Wow, that'd be so weird. It'd be really weird. How would that even happen? I think that would work out. Marv first and then J.J. in 9th? Yeah. No. That'd be cool, I guess, but my instinct would say probably not. But what's stopping you guys from taking- I don't want to pick Marvin Harrison at number one. There's just no point. I don't understand. What's stopping you from taking- Just trade back a few spots. Yeah, I think we're going to turn 2 is a little bit worse. Why? Even, like, a lot of it. I mean, like, I think the difference between neighbors and Harrison isn't as big as- Especially you are saying. To trade back to 4, I don't know, 3, it doesn't even matter, and get a bunch of picks- None of us are ready for number 1, I don't think. You think Arizona's going to be number 1? I don't know. I'm going to think trade back a few spots and get a bunch of picks. I think the value of that is immense. Even if it's not J.J., I think you're honestly better off taking Marv and then whoever the quarterback. Imagine if the Falcons are like- If you want a quarterback, I think you should stick with Justin Fields. If Raheem Morris is like, I want Caleb Williams or whoever, and I'm willing to give you 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and a player, I am absolutely pulling that trigger if I'm not driving Caleb Williams. Obviously that's a different discussion. But I would much rather trade back to 8 and then have back-to-back picks and then pick whoever I want, than pick Marv, get no future picks, and then pick the same guy again at 9. The value of trading back is immense. It's crazy. Just like we proved last year where we got 2 firsts, 2 seconds, that D.J. Morris is the best player on our team. I don't know how that's even arguable. So you're just going to keep- You're like the Browns. Why not? Why not? That'd be ideal, bro. That'd be awesome. You're the Thunder. Do you want to be the Thunder? Sure. That's worked. Sure. Just keep going backwards. I mean, it's not going backwards a lot. I mean, we're still playing in the top 10. I don't understand. Yeah, that's not a horrible idea. Yeah, yeah. I would not want to be Ryan Cole. He must be tossing and turning, bro. He's a dropout. He's a tough- I think if you're dropping, you can't drop past 4. I don't think- I don't think you're dropping out of the top 5. Which none of those teams I think are going to drop out. If they're trying to turn you, they don't want to take Hales. If you want Marvin, sure. Because my message to- I don't- Who are you taking? Neighbors or a doozy. Whoever the second guy on their board is. An offense with Justin Fields. With D.J. Moore. I'm imagining it, and it ain't that much better than what you have now. It's a lot better. Especially with future picks, bro. Like, and now we really- You're getting defensive heavy draft next year. I don't even know that, but- And then if you have- Our offense is pretty much set in that. This is the only argument for a quarterback this year. If you need a quarterback, who are you taking next year? I don't know the draft. Carson Beck or Shadar Sanders? Jackson Dart. Is he coming out next year? I think he will. Nah, he's a college quarterback. I saw he just started at NIL. I'll deal with Private Airlines. Really? Good for him. I thought you were going to say NERF. No. No, we have private jets now. We can go to all of the bags. That'd be perfect. Yeah. Bro, Jackson Dart? How is he not NERF or nothing? NERF or nothing. Jackson Dart. NERF or nothing. But that's insane. That's awesome. All right. Are we going to pivot now? Yeah, let's pivot. Okay. So, a crazy day for college basketball. Last week, we watched Kentucky go into Mississippi State. I don't know what they call that. Super Tuesday. Super Tuesday. Yes. College basketball. That was an insane game. Reed Shepard, I don't know what his stat lines were, but he had like 32. I believe he had like the last eight points of the game for Kentucky. And he hit the game winner. That was awesome. I've had a love-hate relationship with this Kentucky team because I don't really think they can defend on a consistent basis, but they have so many talented guys. What do you think about them? I love Kentucky. I think Rod Dillingham is a top-ten player in college basketball. I think Cal is a good coach. I think Cal is a good coach. He's proven he's been a good coach at every place he's stopped. He's won an Addy. Other than UMass. And UMass made Sweet Sixteens. They might have even made it in the Elite Eight. I can't. I don't know for sure. But I think Cal's a great coach. I think they can win with him. But I'm just not sure if… Well, no, you said yesterday when we were doing brackets. You played pick-em-to-go in the Final Four, and now you're saying you don't like them. No, I'd had a love-hate relationship with them. I think they can't defend. They're like 80th in 10 pounds in defensive efficiency. I think they have a bunch of talented players. And if they get hot, which they are right now, then I believe they can beat anybody. They did almost nothing last week. I mean, they were underdogs, though. Yeah, but they were up by six with crazy. I mean, that's a statement game. That's awesome. They were up by six with 35 seconds to go. That was crazy. And they almost lost to you. That was wild. Reese Shepard. Yeah, Reese Shepard had 32 points off the bench, shot 11 for 14, and 4 for 7 from a 3-point line. That's another thing. Reese Shepard comes off the bench. There are two best players, Rob Dillingham and Reese Shepard, come off the bench. That's absurd, bro. He played 35 minutes. Yeah, he did. Well, it's not who starts, it's who finishes, right? It's stardom. Huh? It's stardom. I don't know. I think this Kentucky season as a whole is interesting because now in the age of college basketball where every team is super old, it's a bunch of fifth-year and transfer old guys. Cal is taking a different approach. He took, what, like five five-star freshmen? And, I mean, I think it's, like I said, it's been a lot of hate with Kentucky because I don't think they can defend. But, I mean, if Cal can prove that he can win with a bunch of these young guys, then, you know, power to him. And I think Cal's best thing throughout his career is, like, managing personality. He's like, all these guys want the ball, all these guys want to score, and I think he's continued to prove that he can manage all these personalities on a championship-contending team. Yeah, I definitely don't disagree with that. Just a segue to this. As a big Mountain West fan. Bro, Mountain West, they always cover at home. I thought they always covered at home. You took my line. They usually do. I thought they always covered at home. They usually do. I believe last night they did not cover. Last night they lost outright at home. Colorado State lost outright. I thought Nevada lost outright. Did any of them cover? One by one. Well, no, I think my rule is the top six teams. When the top six teams play, if it's like Nevada versus Colorado State, which was last night, they usually cover. I think it's like 80%. Nevada did cover last night, but it was at Colorado State. Nevada won, right? Yeah, Nevada won. Seven and a half to play. Yeah, it was six and a half. Close to seven. Close to seven, but it was, yeah, that was a tough game. San Diego State did not cover. I mean, they were a 22-point favorite at home against San Jose State. Yeah, but San Jose State doesn't count, though. Utah State, Fresno, went to overtime. Your rule is top six when there's top sixes. Yeah, top six. Yeah, absolutely. Boise State's in there. I mean, I think they're going to get all six of them in the tournament. No. Yeah, I think they are. I'm pretty sure they are. I'm a Michigan. I get that Michigan basketball sucks, and that's fine. Whatever. I'd be genuinely – What are you saying right now? If Michigan lost to – like, say Michigan is playing Boise State at home tomorrow. I'd be pissed off if Michigan lost, saying that that's a game you should win. Wow, just slander on the Mad West right there. That's brutal. It's an awesome basketball conference. Those atmospheres are awesome. If you restarted the season and put Michigan in the Mad West healthy, they'd finish in the top six. That's your opinion, I guess. I mean, I guess you have to see it play out. For those who don't know, the top six in the Mad West is Utah State at 23-5, Boise State at 20-8, San Diego State at 22-7, Nevada at 23-6, UNLV at 17-10, and New Mexico at 21-7. I love New Mexico, even though they lost to – I forgot who they lost to, but it was, like, a really bad loss. I love Richard Pitino. I love their guys. But, I mean, I think – I mean, they just lost to Air Force. Yeah, that was bad. It was at home, too. They lost by one. They were, like, 20-point favorites or something crazy. So that's bad. They were 18-and-a-half points ahead. That's bad, bro. I mean, how can you say that the Mad West is bad when San Diego State literally made it to Final Four last year? I've signed off here on my rules for both the Big East and the Mad West. I don't think the Big East – I love watching the Big East. The Big East is my second-favorite conference to watch, but I don't think they're good tournament teams. And I think the Mountain West – I hate the Mountain West, and I think they suck in the tournament. They both have one exception, UConn and San Diego State. Wait, Big East teams aren't good in the tournament? I have that. They're not always bad, but sometimes – But UConn and San – It's something to me – so, like, I view, like, the Big East and the Big Ten, and I look at them as kind of equals because they play similar styles of basketball. And I think the Big Ten's better in every way, and I think those Big East teams, they get overrated. You said something last night that low-key pissed me off. You said that the Big Ten is more fun to watch than the SEC and the Big 12. Because everyone says that the SEC and the Big 12 are objectively better conferences and objectively more fun to watch. I'm from Ohio. I don't give a rat's ass. I'm from Connecticut, baby. I don't care about – Go Huskies! No, I'm not asking. I don't care to watch Kentucky play Mississippi State. That was a great game. Absolutely. But I don't care who wins that game. I thought you said that it was more fun to watch. I enjoy watching the Big Ten more than I like watching the Big East. Oh, okay. Well, I – He said more fun last night. Yeah, I thought that was implied, but it's just more enjoyable. I think – I like the – and I like the style of basketball more. Should we tell the viewers where they're going to college or is that – Yeah. We're going to Miami of Ohio. Miami of Ohio, baby. Big win last night over Boise Bay, I must say. Did we win? Yeah, big win. We are now sixth in the match. That's big for seeding. We don't got to go through Toledo or Akron. Oh, man. I might hit up some action for – Up in Cleveland? I mean, he'll be home that weekend. Yeah, I mean, he's home every single weekend. He's either home or at UC every weekend. I don't know. I think I might be staying in. I don't know. I got to figure that out tomorrow. That's what I was wondering. Is this the mostly sports part of the podcast here? Max Summers is considering transferring. Yeah, can we talk – Oh, you're for sure not going to – Where are you going? I don't know yet. Let's listen to President Collins. Yeah. Let's get into it. I'm going to stay home, help coach some hockey, work for the school. Can you work for the school even though you're – The athletic director said he'd hire me to do stuff. I'm really close with the AD. Yeah, he doesn't have a teaching degree. Did he just, like, hire you, like, as a teacher? No. No, no, no. Not as a teacher. But he can – I can pull a few strings. That's highly illegal in the state of Ohio. I'm a 20-year-old teaching high school U.S. history. If you want to go to a private school, you can do that also. Casual? Really? Do you want to go to a private school with a teaching degree or a teaching license? Yeah. I can work for – but I can work in the athletics department. But I – obviously, they'll go to school and still get my teaching degree. Yeah, where are you going to go? Cleveland State? Probably – my dream scenario would be Baldwin-Wallace and commute to Baldwin-Wallace. I'd rather go to Baldwin-Wallace and John Carroll than Cleveland State just because they're better schools. But for people who don't know the area, the commute to get to Baldwin-Wallace, same in miles-wise, but the commute would be a little bit easier to manage every day because there's traffic and John Carroll, you've got to go through downtown. When you're saying commute, you're saying living at home, right? I am. Imagine going to your five-year reunion and being like, yeah, I live with my parents. Like, yeah. Well, he's just going to live in his grandparents' house once he graduates. That's – we don't – we're not going to do that. He has his whole life planned out. We're not. Let's just get into the personal facts for next time. We don't need to do that. What's the most traumatic memory of your childhood? No, I'm kidding. I mean, Em, what's your most traumatic kid from your kindergarten class? What was his name again? Fong. No, his name wasn't Fong. I made that up. Why don't you pick up? Well, I – Pathological lie. I'm not a pathological liar. I'm not like David. I made up one thing. Fong. You made up two things. And then, yeah, and then the music stand thing. But, I mean, all right, for people who don't know, I rushed a frat, right? We're not going to say what frat. But it's on Miami's campus, obviously. And one of the questions was, what's a time you were honest and didn't want to be? And I had nothing to say. I was sitting there for, like, two minutes. Other people were going. And I had nothing to say. So I made up the story how, like, I was a part of this club and we, like, stole a music stand. And, I mean, it didn't really seem like it went that bad. And, like, I told Max, Nick, and, like, other people in our dorm about it. And they were, like, making fun of me for it. And I felt really bad about that. And I guess that's the reason why I didn't get into this frat. So, yeah. Well, we think that's the reason. We don't know for sure. Yeah, I don't really know. It's not that you didn't get in. You got cut first night. I did get cut first night. I felt really good about it because one of our friends kind of hinted that, like, I may have a chance of getting in. So I was, like, oh, I'm going to be in this frat. And I was really excited about it. And at, like, 1.30 a.m. this person who shall remain nameless. Thank you. We'll call him Mr. Basketball. Sure, sure. Kranjis McBasketball said... Hopefully my friends listen to this and, you know, Kranjis McBasketball has a different meaning now than this. I doubt you were friends. But that's a different discussion. And he said I was cut. And, you know, that's the most dramatic thing I've had so far, which, I mean, it's not that bad, you know. So, yeah, I mean, this is clearly the mostly sports section of the podcast. How many times are you going to say this? Gimmick infringement. It's a podcast already. It is, but it's a phrase I can use. It's fine. Is there any other sports topics we can delve into? 59 footer for Max Drews last night to beat the Mattis. Absolutely insane. That was nuts. I don't really watch TV. It's ridiculous. He's going to start watching it again for the podcast. Well, it's kind of annoying. I used to. I mean, do you watch TV? Like, actually watch yourself? 38-19 in second in the East. Yeah, but you don't watch the games, though. The Cavs games? I don't think you watch them. Yeah, I do. And the Cavs... You don't watch other games, though. Cavs games next week are going to be on that TV because we got to see it on national TV. Ooh, big Boston fan over here, so that will be a fun... Cavs-Celtics on TNT is better than any college basketball game that could be on. What day is that game? Is it a Wednesday? I'd have to look. Cavs has like four national TV games. Yeah, I know Celtics have about 10 coming up. Really? Yeah, we really have these scheduled. Wow, Cavs bulls tonight, by the way. Really? That's a big game. Last time we watched it in a restaurant. On Tuesday. What? Tuesday. It was on Super Tuesday. What time is that? 7th or 7th. Okay, all right. So, I mean, we can flip back and forth, probably. Yeah. We got to all scream at Ev for having the wrong game on. Oh, yeah. But I am pumped for the bracket, though. I mean, conference tournaments start, what, in like two weeks, I think? Yeah, Michigan's going to make at least a quarter. Maybe it's a week and a half for conference tournaments? Like, they'll make the real ones? Like Big 12 or just like random ones, like SWAC and... The Big 10 starts two weeks from today. Imagine if Michigan makes the tournament by just winning the tournament. I've said off-air that if Michigan makes the Big 10 championship game and loses, it would be probably like the most mad I've ever been at the basketball tournament. That would upset me so much. Yeah, I mean... Super Tuesday, we've got a really good game on Peacock. I may be lying when I said any game is better than Cavs-Celtics. What game? What game? Purdue-Illinois. Oh, that's a great game. I think Purdue plays Wisconsin at the end, too, of the... Oh, should we get into that? Zach Yee, Player of the Year? No, we're not. We'll be here all day. Why not? How much time do we have, Nick? I mean, we're right now at 47 minutes. Really? Okay. Well, we can keep going. We've got another hour. We'll end it off with Zach Yee. Yeah. All right, perfect. Max, do you want to say your blurb first? Zach Yee's not a basketball player. I don't know what he's a giant. I mean, what's your stat? Purdue's a nice kid, about 7-footers. Oh, yeah. I believe if you're over 7 foot, you have a 1-in-7 chance of making the NBA. How does that work? And guess what? That is not out of my ass. That is from my sports slam class. That's how embarrassing this is for college basketball. Zach Yee will never play an NBA game. I don't know. Will he ever start an NBA game? No. Let me say his name. Max Dagan. Max Dagan and I were looking at mock drafts, and I think he went. I'm hesitant to say in the first round, but I'm pretty sure it was in the first round. We got a fact. I don't know what mock draft he was looking at. I wouldn't pick it in the first round. It's a crappy NBA draft, but I mean. Someone will definitely pick him up. Yeah. Like the Marquise Noel thing. The Marquise Noel thing. Right? He played. Did Noah start? Noah. Virginia. Kansas City. Kansas City. A small guy. Yeah. I think he played in the summer league. Are you counting summer league as an NBA game? I don't know if that's fact, though. It depends on the fact. Oh, okay. All right. Well, I mean, we watched RJ Davis score. It was like 42 or something. I believe he finished with 41 or 42. He's a little much better. Okay. Well, all right. So player of the year is not. Yeah. We have Zach Eady going on pick 29. 29. Oh, don't you dare say that. Wait, wait. You better not say this. Say something. What are you going to say? Is it Timberwolves? It is the Timberwolves. It is the Timberwolves. Now, it makes no sense for the Cavs to take him. The Cavs won't. I can promise you that. The Cavs aren't going to be taking him. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. That'd be great. I hope so. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. I can see him in a Bulls jersey. I can see him in a Bulls jersey.
