Violet, Klaus, and Sonny Borden's parents died in a fire, and Mr. Paul found a relative, Klaus Olaf, to take care of them. They arrive at Klaus Olaf's house and find it to be in poor condition. Mr. Paul suggests using some of their money to fix it, but Klaus Olaf refuses, saying the money is not to be used. Olaf gives Mr. Paul a look as if he needs help. The bad beginning characters, Violet, Klaus, Sonny, Mr. Paul, Klaus Olaf. 14 year old Violet, 12 year old Klaus and baby Sonny Borden and their parents were killed in a fire that burned the house down. Mr. Paul find a relative to care for them. These ones stay outside Klaus Olaf's house. Violet, Klaus, Sonny enter from stage left followed by Mr. Paul. Here we are, their new home. Is this really Klaus Olaf's house? But it's horrible, knock on the door. Perhaps it's nice inside. Klaus knocked on Klaus Olaf's door, shaking it. A few moments later the door creaked open and it's really good to see Klaus Olaf for the first time. Hello, hello, hello, hello my children. Please step into your new home and wipe your feet outside so no one gets in the door. The children stepped inside the house followed by Mr. Paul. As they stepped in they found a very dirty room. Mr. Paul Klaus Olaf stepped in the room followed by the children. This room looks like it needs a little work. I realise a humble abode is expensive as is the Bordelaire Mission, but perhaps with a bit of your money we could fix it a little nicer. Mr. Paul, why do I need the price?
