Three Poems (for Two Oboes and English Horn), Opus 32

Three movements composed in 2025, total duration 10 minutes.  The first movement (Pastorale) is based a simple country air but includes rather intricate part writing. The second movement (Loure) highlights the English Horn in a sustained tune accompanied by the oboes.  Loure was, in ancient times, a slow dance for the bagpipes, whose sonority the three double reeds suggest here.  The third movement (Gigue) is a lively fugue that is developed seriously and concludes with a musical gag.
