Having established the first European church around 50-51 AD, Paul writes to the Philippians, from his prison cell in Rome, about 10 years later. The letter is largely one of thankfulness for their faithfulness and encouragement to continue in their 'participation in the gospel' no matter what difficulties come upon them, relying on the love and strength of the Almighty to work through them. Paul also warns them against false teachers who want to bring them back to the obedience of the Law.
