Ramana Maharshi lived in twentieth century India, He was a religious mystic. The mystics of all traditions speak one and the same language, the language of religious experience. Religious experience is simply our awareness of communion with the Ultimate. It as common as a peak moment of awareness which overwhelms us unawares. Dropping the EGO "I" consciousness is the path to experiencing the divine within, the Self, the Atman - we are not only contained in God, we are God Himself.
