Hello, everybody. I'm Steve Davenport. Today, Glenn Miller and I are starting our journey into podcasting. Welcome to our new podcast. It's called Skeptic's Guide to Investing. Our mission at Skeptic's Guide is to provide you a different take on the news, markets, and investments. We find that the mainstream business media often misses the point. It doesn't tell the whole story or keeps repeating the party line or puts too much spin on things and exaggerates. On our podcast, we're going to provide you unvarnished perspective on markets investing that you may not find anywhere else. Sometimes, you'll even get opposing perspectives on this show, as Glenn and I may not always agree. So, who are we, anyway? We offer definitive experience in markets and economics. We both hold a charted financial designation and leadership positions at our respective societies. I was a member of the CFA Society Atlanta and its president and helped found the Literacy Foundation there. The charted financial analyst designation is considered the gold standard for credentials for investment analysts. We both manage our own investment portfolios and we've got our money on the line. Glenn focuses on fundamental investing while I focus on quantitative investing. We both tend to take an approach that is consistent and we prefer to look at stocks a little bit differently, but that's, I think, what makes this special. Sometimes, commentators talk but don't really say anything. Their mouths move but nothing interesting comes out. We prefer to be skeptical and skepticism is a good thing. Skepticism is simply a one-word way to describe critical thinking skills. When it's your own personal money at stake, Glenn and I think it's really important to exercise critical thinking. You can lose money pretty quickly. Sometimes, it even helps to be cynical. It might save you some money. Investing is, of course, a serious subject. We're looking at ideas for our podcast. We don't want it to be stuffy. We want it to be fun and engaging. Last, I will say that our podcast is meant for investors at all levels of experience and skill from beginner to expert. We are not giving investment advice. We hope that you will consult your own investment, legal, and tax advice. Welcome to Adventure. Let's get started.
