This is a rendition of Purcell's duet from Orpheus Britannicus. The verses question the choices available to women when they are pursued by insistent, persistent lovers. The lyrics ponder if there is any other option besides rejection or acceptance, both of which seem to dash our hopes alike. The downloadable PDF file includes both the music score and parts. The decorative touches and the execution of this performance are the work of Dr. Robert David Billington, accompanied by Emma Mellinger on the second flute.
