Originally conceived as a vocal duet during a stroll from Denning Point in East London to a performance at St Michael's Cornhill around 1986, this piece can be rendered on different instruments, ideally pairs of identical instruments or those within the same range. The lyrics of the original duet tell a tale of hearing a joyous melody on a solitary urban street, a song that harked back to bygone days. It was a melody reminiscent of a time when the street was a meadow trail.
