This narrative is inspired by my vocal duet interpretation of a poem by Jacques Prévert. It tells the story of a soldier saying goodbye, placing his military hat in a cage, and stepping outside with a bird symbolizing freedom on his head. He placed his military cap in the cage and walked out with a bird perched on his head. "Have we stopped saluting?" The commander inquired. "No, we no longer salute," the bird responded. "Oh, I see, my apologies. I was under the impression that we still saluted," the commander said. "You're excused, anyone can make a mistake," the bird retorted.
