This is a rendition of Chopin's Nocturne Number 20 tailored for a solo viola. The initial piano composition, composed in 1830, was a gift to Chopin's sister, Ludwika, but wasn't published until 26 years after his passing. The nocturne is recognized for its melancholic and arguably eerie mood. It gained fame for its notable appearance in Roman Polanski's 2002 wartime film, The Pianist, which tells the story of Polish pianist Władysław Szpilman during World War II.
