"Mumbo Gumbo" for piano Op. 71, No. 1

Duration: 7'19" (2003). This piece marks the beginning of my "24 Interludes" for piano Op. 71, rendered by the composer himself. The tone is playful yet irreverent.<br><br><i><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Noland is an exceptionally diverse composer. His repertoire spans from rhythmic ragtime to profound piano explorations reminiscent of Cecil Taylor, to the counterpoint in the style of neo-Bach. However, his works are imbued with a modern, unique twist. Noland has a knack for establishing and then disrupting anticipated musical patterns.
