The anthem titled "Anthem" by Johannes Eccard (1553-1611) depicts Simeon's recognition of Jesus at the temple. It is performed by the solo choir ensemble, dwsChorale. The lyrics describe Maria journeying to the sanctuary to present her child, observed by elderly Simeon as prophesied. He joyfully embraces Jesus and sings: Now I depart in joy, Savior, I saw you today, You are the comfort of Israel, the light of the world. The translation is provided by John Troutbeck.
