This is a hangover song in the style of a canon, inspired by Gavin Ewart's poem. The lyrics lament the unfairness of alcohol's adverse effects on the body - causing weight gain and resulting in a lethargic state the following day, akin to a semi-lifeless bat. The blame is attributed to a devilish influence, as one would naturally presume such an enjoyable activity to be immensely beneficial. This piece is beautifully executed by The Budapest Scoring Clarinet Ensemble.
