El Grillo for clarinet quartet (mp3)

The theory suggests that El grillo is a reference to Carlo Frillo, a singer who served the same patron as Josquin, Cardinal Galeazzo Sforza. It's believed to be a subtle hint to the Cardinal about the pending payment of his musicians. It seems the Sforzas were known for their stinginess towards their staff, despite (or perhaps because of) one of them willingly spending a large amount of money on a parrot trained to recite the Creed. The lyrics of this small piece, with their nod to this situation, support this theory.
