Ave Maria Bach-Gounod

The piece Ave Maria was originally unveiled in 1853 under the title Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de S. Bach. The French Romantic composer, Charles Gounod, is credited with its creation, having layered it over a slightly altered version of Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from J. S. Bach's revered work, The Well-Tempered Clavier. Notably, the Latin prayer Ave Maria was not the initial poem intended by Gounod for this melody. The version captured in this recording has ingeniously transformed the vocal component into piano instrumentation.
