The renowned Scottish melody "Annie Laurie" was the creative work of Alicia Scott (1810-1900), with its lyrical foundation set by the poet, William Douglas (1672-1748). The song was inspired by the enchanting beauty of Miss Annie Laurie during that era. In 2004, a captivating and impressive adaptation of the song was arranged for a string quartet by Diau-Hua Lim and showcased at Taipei's National Concert Hall.
