The Civil War Memorial of America: 3. Initial Confrontation is a nine-part oratorio crafted by Michael James Karasis. It features an orchestra, chorus, and narration, produced and led by James MacDonald with Senator Paul Simon as the narrator. The vocal ensemble includes soprano Christine Schultze, alto Brooke Tippett Thompson, tenor Lawrence Johnson, and bass Ray Kasman. The performance is backed by The Chicago Businessmen's Orchestra and ARS Musica Chicago. The recording and editing were handled by Lincoln Music Productions with Ken Abeling serving as the engineer, recorded on March 17.
