Jeremiah Bornfield's interpretation is inspired by Colin Bayliss' adaptation of my piece for chamber orchestra. Initially, the composition was meant for a recorder orchestra. The title, An Amble round Mercury, is a nod to the Mercury statue and its surrounding pond located in the heart of Tom Quad at my educational institution, Christ Church Oxford. The music embodies a leisurely stroll around this quad, paired with a basso ostinato that wanders through the orchestral fabric.
