This is a condensed version of the Rondo from The Abdelazer Suite by Henry Purcell, arranged specifically for a Trombone Quartet. Abdelazer, a play from 1676 penned by Aphra Behn, featured this suite as incidental music, composed by Purcell in 1695. The suite consists of 10 movements, with the Rondo as the second one. This particular movement may seem familiar as Benjamin Britten used it as a theme for his variations in The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.
