Shoulder rolls are a beneficial exercise for relieving tension in the back, neck, and chest. To perform this exercise, stand straight with your hands down. Lift your shoulders up using the trapezius muscle and roll them back. Repeat this backward rolling motion 10 times. Then, roll your shoulders forward from the back to the front another 10 times. Breathe comfortably and exhale during areas of tension. Shoulder Rolls. This is a great exercise to release tension in the back, neck, and chest. Stand straight with your hands down to your side. Begin pulling your shoulders up using the trapezius muscle and rolling them to the back. Roll the shoulders back comfortably, raising them up towards your ears and then back down at your side. Roll backwards 10 times, then begin to roll them forward, going from the back to the front another 10 times. Breathe comfortably, exhaling where you have the most tension on the roll.
