Oliver talks about Patagonia, a sustainable clothing brand. They use recycled materials like polyester, nylon, and wool to make their products. Cotton is absorbent and lightweight, while polyester is durable and quick-drying. Wool is a good insulator but can be scratchy. Oliver describes two products: Men's Hydro-Lock Board Shorts, which are stylish and flexible but expensive, and Women's Quandary Shorts, which are comfortable and durable but limited in color choices. The podcast ends with a thank you to Oliver and the audience. Hi everyone, and welcome to the New Earth Podcast. Today's special guest is Oliver. Hi everyone, thanks for having me today. So, Oliver, what will you be talking about today? I will be talking about the brand Patagonia and the sustainable clothing that they design. So, what is Patagonia and what products do they design? Patagonia is an American clothing company that was founded in California in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard. Patagonia is a worldwide brand that sells sustainable and environmentally friendly outdoor clothing including sportswear, casual wear, socks, vests, shoes, swimwear and accessories. That sounds interesting. So, what materials does Patagonia use in their clothes? Well, I'm proud to say that Patagonia use recycled materials that are organic and sustainable. The main materials used at Patagonia are polyester, nylon and wool. These materials are used to make clothing, swimwear, shoes and accessories. I love that it's sustainable. What are the characteristics and properties of two materials that Patagonia designs? The two materials that I would like to speak about today are cotton and polyester. Firstly, cotton, which is an absorbent, lightweight, soft material making it perfect for casual wear. And secondly, polyester. This material is durable, lightweight and dries quickly making it suitable for sportswear. Excellent. What are some pros and cons of a specific material that Patagonia uses? A material that Patagonia uses is wool. Some advantages of this material is that it is a good insulator and holds moisture without feeling damp. A disadvantage is that it can be scratchy, uncomfortable to wear and also heat and moisture could cause it to felt. And finally, can you describe two of the products from Patagonia and your likes and dislikes of these products? The first product I've chosen to describe is the Men's Hydro-Lock Board Shorts. These board shorts have a unique style and are flexible, giving you the perfect fit. They come in three stylish colour choices and are also chase-free. They have a four-way stretch giving you a longer lasting fit. Although these are great board shorts, some customers might argue that they are expensive. But overall, these board shorts are great and will last much longer than regular board shorts. Sounds worth it. I might even get myself a pair. So what is the last product you'll be talking about today? The last product I'll be talking to you about today is the Women's Quandary Shorts. Great. So let's hear about these shorts. Sure. The Women's Quandary Shorts have a soft texture and are amazing design. They are comfortable and make the perfect shorts for hikers and outdoor leisure activities as they are lightweight, durable and water repellent. Though the colour choices are bland and limited with three similar shades of brown. Well, that concludes our New Earth podcast today. Thanks Oliver. We hope to see you again soon. Thanks for having me. Thanks everyone for joining us today and see you next time.
