But some videos, such as cartoons disguised as age-appropriate, sipped through the cracks. Following that, there was a video found by James Riddle who saw content of disturbing Peppa Pig videos which promote extreme violence and fear, with Peppa Pig eating her father and drinking bleach. However, since this incident, it was noticed that in the past 30 days, the company said that less than 0.005% of videos viewed in the Kids app were removed for being inappropriate. Therefore, due to this inappropriate content found on the app, it has impacted on multiple kids' behaviors. The author states, this behavior by YouTube and Google is estimated to have impacted hundreds of thousands to potentially millions of children across the United States. Due to this, it has not just impacted children, but the app itself. The author Hajaji states, when in a social media ecosystem where child welfare remains an ongoing problem, YouTuber parents whose activity ranges from extensively vlogging their children's days to casually divulging detail about their kids' personal lives are a cause for concern. Following that, this can be dangerous and harmful to children's health and even adults because it can set out their attitudes and actions change and how it can affect one another. It is said, additionally for kids whose parents do not have a good sense of boundaries and of appropriateness, sometimes the commercially shared content can be pretty uncomfortable or even, in more extreme cases, constitute more abuse or neglect. This is a lesson to multiple people to be careful in how it is extremely important to know the impact it can make in one household. Nevertheless, how do YouTube Kids ensure safety? YouTube Kids has added a feature called Parent Controls which gives an additional of safety measures and controls to help provide a safer and more secure app for you and your children's liking. Following that, it is said the company announced that when the videos are flagged on the main YouTube app, they will automatically be age-restricted and therefore blocked from the kids' app. This helps to block ads and non-appropriate videos on this kid-friendly app. In addition to what was said, YouTube Kids has changed their policies to help improve the app. It is said, it is wise to supervise closely and watch together when you can. If you find a disturbing video, you can block it which makes sure the video doesn't surface again. You can also report it, which alerts YouTube of the offensive content so that their team can review and remove it if necessary. Furthermore, as this does help most of its problems to make this app safer, we will not for sure know if it is truly still safe to leave kids unattended and cannot promise due towards my mom's own experience. Towards this, it is followed and said by the human monitors, still, it's important for parents to keep an eye on things and actively make sure of this product's built-in controls to keep kids' experience fun and safe. In conclusion, throughout my podcast, I show awareness to the unsafe platform of YouTube Kids and evidently the research behind is YouTube Kids Safe for Children. The research shows it to be inappropriate through its connections to the algorithm of YouTube itself, or proving it to be harmful for children who use YouTube Kids as a platform. Overall, we as Christians live out a loving, non-harmful life like our Lord, which is clearly stated in Psalm 121, 7-8. This Bible verse reminds us of the protection we receive from the Lord daily.
