The speaker, Riley Reynolds, is wrapping up the episode and emphasizing the importance of addressing the mental health and well-being of healthcare workers. They discuss the lack of research and support for healthcare workers, and how this affects patients. They also mention the stigma surrounding mental health, particularly for nurses who are expected to be perfect. Lastly, they highlight the impact of COVID-19 on nurses, including the PTSD many have experienced. Alright, now I'm just going to be wrapping up our episode today. Again, my name is Riley Reynolds. I am a nursing and psychology major, which has been very fun so far. And I just really want to drive in the point how important this is and how much this affects you, even though you may not realize it at first. But imagine you going into an ER and your nurse just does not want to be there. She hates her job. She feels miserable. She feels unsupported. So why should she care? Why should she care how you're treated? Because she has lost all love for her job. Some key takeaways that I want to discuss. Again, how I've been stating there's not nearly enough research done to be able to properly support our healthcare workers. We do need to get a little better about that. This does affect patients. I know you don't think it does, but it does affect you specifically. Mental health is very stigmatized in our country already, but we as a society think that nurses are allowed to feel that way because they're supposed to be perfect. And they shouldn't have to worry about their own problems because they have to worry about our problems. And then I also want to drive in the COVID-19 impact that had the PTSD that many nurses have experienced because of COVID. I appreciate you listening and thank you so much and I'll see you next week for our next episode of Healthcare Happenings.
