Patagonia creates outdoor clothing and accessories using materials such as natural rubber wool, organic cotton, and recycled polyester. Recycled polyester has advantages like reducing waste and conserving resources, but it also has disadvantages like involving toxic chemicals and contributing to microplastic pollution. Wool is a natural fiber used in base layers and outerwear, but it can be scratchy and cause water pollution. Patagonia is aiming to eliminate virgin petroleum materials and reduce reliance on fossil fuels by using recycled polyester. The presenter liked the Men's R1 Air Full Zip Hoodie for its material, but disliked the popping zipper. They liked the Men's Better Sweater Fleece Vest for its ease of use, but disliked its strange cut. They liked the Men's Daily Polo for its everyday use, but disliked the color choice and lack of logo placement. Overall, Patagonia focuses on ethical and sustainable practices. Hello, my name is Safair Cable and this is my assessment ICT presentation. 1. Identify the products and services that the designer usually creates. Patagonia creates outdoor clothing such as jackets and vests, t-shirts, shorts and pants that suit and accessories. 2. Describe the kinds of materials, tools and processes that the designer uses. The materials, tools and processes that Patagonia uses is natural rubber wool that meets the responsible rule standards, organic cotton and various recycled materials. 3. The characteristics and properties the designer uses refer to the advantages and disadvantages of using this material, recycled polyester. 4. Characteristics and properties lightweight, made from recycled plastic bottles and is commonly used in jackets and outdoor clothing. 5. Disadvantages. Decreases land waste, requires less energy to produce and it conserves natural resources. 6. Disadvantages. Recycling process may involve or include toxic chemicals, contributes to microplastic pollution and does not biodegrade. 7. Wool. Characteristics and properties. Natural fibre from sheep, flexible and mostly used in base layers and outerwear. 8. Disadvantages. It holds moisture without filling ruts, cracks, thorns and sterilisers. 9. Disadvantages. It can be scratchy, itchy, mostly at expenses and causes water pollution. 10. Disadvantages. How does the designer is impacting the society with their ethical approach to the environment. 11. Disadvantages. By 2025 they will eliminate virgin petroleum material in their products and only use preferred materials. They are reducing the reliance on fossil fuels by creating recycled polyester. 5. Theory of the product design. What did you like about them and what didn't you like. Men's R1 Air Full Zip Hoodie. I like the Men's R1 Air Full Zip Hoodie because I like the material they used which is recycled polyester. I also like the zigzags they have stitched on the top of this hoodie. I do not like the Men's R1 Air Full Zip Hoodie because the zipper is popping out too much. I think they should have made the colour the same as the hoodie so that when people see this they don't look straight at the zip. Also I wouldn't say I like how the zip goes all the way to the top of the neck. It looks like you're hiding something underneath. 2. Men's Better Sweater Fleece Vest. I like the Men's Better Sweater Fleece Vest because it is easy to put on for everyday use. I also like how the zipper is the same colour as the fleece. I dislike the Men's Better Sweater Fleece Vest because the cut of the fleece is a bit weird. It looks dodgy looking. I also dislike it because it can be too hot when it's over the top of another layer of clothing. 3. Men's Daily Polo. I like the Men's Daily Polo because it is an everyday shirt and no need to change throughout the day. I also like how they have created the stripes on the shirt. This makes it more of a pop effect. I dislike the Men's Daily Polo because the colour choice for example they have put brown colour polo with the brown stripes. I dislike it because I think they should have put their logo Patagonia on the pocket of the t-shirt. This is because it looks like the cheaper version from Capcom.
