The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement started in 1863 and was inspired by Swiss businessman Henry Dunant. The Red Cross began in Genoa, Switzerland. Question number 4. Which countries were involved? The Red Cross is involved with Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen, India, China, Fiji, Japan, and Palestine. Number 5.
