Suzie Hall Island Mystery Chapter One Suzie Hall Introduction By Pauline Crain
Susie Hall, a real estate agent in South Florida, receives a call from Sam and Pete Chase who were scammed into thinking they rented her house. She realizes that her neighbor has also experienced the same problem. Susie is a single mother struggling to make ends meet and is looking for ways to earn extra money. She loves her job and helping people solve their real estate problems. However, with the slow season approaching, she needs to find alternative sources of income. Susie Hall's Island Mysteries, Chapter One Sam and Pete Chase called me early this morning. The craziest thing happened. A cab driver just dropped off a family from Suriname at my doorstep. They had months' worth of luggage and paid thousands of dollars to rent my house for their vacation. Samuel P. Chase had bought his million-dollar South Florida home from me a few years ago. What did you say? I said, I hate to tell you this, but this house is not for rent. You've been scammed. That's sad. The poor people came and expected to rent the house. It's really a shame, I said. He continued, my neighbor has received several visits this season from people who thought they had rented her beach house. I just never thought it would happen to me. With that, he hung up. My name is Susie Hall. I'm a real estate agent in South Florida. I work for Frank Saunders. He owns several real estate offices in the area. I work in a Singer Island office on US 1. There are about three people in the office, Mary, my partner, and Dolly. Frank's office is all wood and lots of stuffed fish. You can usually find him in his boat with a fishing rod in hand. I live in a second floor condo in the 24th floor building of Singer Island, otherwise known as Riviera Beach. I have a son, Michael, 20, a daughter, Michelle, 18. They're both in college. Their father, Peter, and I divorced two years ago, and the alimony has run out. I struggle to make the mortgage payment, the condo fees, and college tuition bills. I am pretty, but I'm in pretty good shape. I love my children and jobs, and don't get along with Mindy, my ex-husband's new wife. There'll be another few months before the snowbirds start arriving, and I have my hair pulled back, no makeup on, sunscreen on, running shoes. I have just come back from the morning jog on the beach, and getting ready for work. Work consists of meeting people, figuring out what they want to buy or sell. I get paid for solving problems. I get paid well. However, it will be another few months before the snowbirds start arriving, and I need to find some way to make some money.
