This is my band playing the amazing "Next Season" by Tom Matta at a gig in Peterborough, Cambs. UK in Sept 2024. I think of it as a tone poem written for big band. That is probably not how he thinks of it. From the incredibly high and exposed tenor sax 'solo' in the intro to the immensely long solos on tbn and tpt, it is just a delight of constantly shifting chords.
