The speaker discusses ethics and morals, explaining that ethics is a branch of philosophy that deals with questions of right and wrong behavior, while morals refer to personal beliefs about conduct. In the context of AI, moral ethics refers to the principles and values that guide ethical decision-making. The speaker also highlights the emerging field of AI ethics, which focuses on the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence. Key aspects of moral ethics in AI include benevolence, fairness, transparency, and privacy protection. The speaker mentions Isaac Asimov's laws of robotics, which prioritize the safety and well-being of humans. Today on AI ethics, I will be talking about what I feel on moral ethics of artificial intelligence and what the machine's ethics law are. My name is Elizabeth Aide-Effa. So I'll first talk about the ethics and morals before going into the moral ethics of AI and the machine. So what is ethics? Ethics is actually a branch of philosophy that deals with questions about what is morally right and wrong, good and bad, and how individuals and societies should behave. It provides a framework for understanding and evaluating human action, intentions and consequences in their moral implication. So what is moral ethics? Moral ethics is a redundant term, as both morals and ethics refer to principles that govern right and wrong behaviors, however, they are often used interchangeably in everyday language. Moral typically refers to a person's belief about right and wrong conduct, often influenced by cultural, religious, or philosophical perspectives. Ethics, on the other hand, usually refers to a broader framework of principles and guidelines for moral decision-making that may be shared with a profession, organization, or society. So when someone talks about moral ethics, they are actually referring to the principle, values, and standards that guide moral behavior and decision-making in a particular context. So now our own context is in AI. This may include consideration of fairness, honesty, integrity, respect for others, and well-being of individuals and communities. In essence, moral ethics provides a framework for determining what actions are usually permissible, obligatory, or prohibited within a given context or society. So artificial intelligence ethics is a field that has emerged in response to growing concerns concerning the impact of AI. Indeed, there have been an increasing number of high-profile cases of harm that have resulted either because of the misuse of the technology. So what is moral ethics in AI? Moral ethics in AI refers to principles, guidelines, and considerations that govern the development, deployment, and use of artificial intelligence. AI in a morally acceptable manner. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into society, addressing ethical concerns may become a critical issue. Key aspects of moral ethics in AI include benevolence, non-maliciousness, fairness and bias, transparency and accountability, privacy and data protection, autonomy and control for societal impact, and inclusivity and accessibility. Benefits involve designing and deploying AI systems to maximize the benefits of humanity and minimizing harm. Non-maliciousness involves ensuring AI systems do not cause harm to individuals, communities, or environments. Fairness and bias involve addressing biases in AI algorithms and datasets, ensuring equal treatment and opportunities for all individuals, and preventing discrimination. So furthermore, there is a law from Isaac Asprey Law which says a robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Secondly, a robot must obey orders given to it by a human being, except where such orders would conflict with the first law, that is, causing harm to a human being. Thirdly, a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the first and second law. Thank you.
