My journey as an international student at Buman Academy in Hannover. Now, before you think it's going to be a super serious academy talk, don't worry. This is not a lecture. This is just me telling you my story with all the funny, awkward and sometimes even emotional moments of being a student abroad. So, if you ever wondered what it feels like to leave home, to study in a completely new country and to deal with things like homesickness and German grammar, well, stay with me. You might enjoy it. So, let's start at the beginning. I come from Vietnam and I'm 27 years old. And maybe you ask yourself, why Germany? Well, I'll be honest with you. One of the biggest reasons was that the universities in Germany are chosen free. Yes, free. I mean, who doesn't like free education, right? In Vietnam, studying can be very expensive. So, when I heard about this opportunity, I thought, okay, Germany, here I come. But there's more. I had already studied business administration for two years at University Hannover. To be honest, this was, let's just say, a lot of theory. And to be honest, after a while, I felt kind of stuck. I wanted something more practical and not just reading books and memorizing definitions. Then, by chance, a friend of mine, she had studied at Buk-Buman Academy before, told me about this school Hannover, and she said, hey, it's international, it's practical, and you meet people from all over the world. And that felt exactly like what I was looking for. So, here I am today talking to you as a student at Buk-Buman Academy, and honestly, sometimes I still can't believe how life brought me here. It's kind of funny. I had no clear direction, and now I'm here in Germany sharing my little story with you. Life is unpredictable, right? Life is unpredictable, right? Life is unpredictable, right? Now you might be curious, what does daily life look like for an international student in Germany? Well, it's a mix of excitement, confusion, and a lot of coffee. When I first arrived, I was super motivated. I thought, okay, I possibly want German in Vietnam, so I should be fine. Then came my first real challenges. When I first arrived, I was super motivated. I thought, okay, I possibly want German in Vietnam, so I should be fine. But then came my first real challenges. German train stations. Let me tell you, standing there on my first day, listening to the announcement on the loudspeaker, I felt like I was listening to a secret code. The words went by so fast, and I could only catch maybe one or two keywords. So I stood there, concentrating like crazy, just trying to understand if my train was coming or going, or maybe cancel it. And that moment, I thought, oh no, what have I done? But little by little, I got used to it. I forced myself to speak German every day, even when I was scared of making mistakes. And guess what? It started to get better. Now I actually think German is a beautiful language. Yes, it's still hard sometimes, but learning a new language isn't just a challenge. It can also be fun. Believe it or not, I sometimes even enjoy practices. Crazy, right? Yes, it's still hard sometimes, but learning a new language isn't just a challenge. It can also be very fun. Believe me. I sometimes even enjoy practicing. Crazy, right? And of course, student life is not only about studying. Yes, it's still hard sometimes, but learning a new language isn't just... Yes, it's still hard sometimes, but learning a new language isn't just a challenge. It can also be fun. And believe it or not, I sometimes even enjoy practicing. Crazy, right? And of course, student life is not only about studying. Like many international students, I also work part-time in a place as a waitress. At first, I was nervous because you have to be fast, you have to understand the customer, and sometimes people are not very patient. But honestly, this job helps me so much, not only to support myself financially, but also to make new friends and to experience everyday life in Germany more closely. And sometimes I think I learned as much at my job as I did in class. Maybe even more. Because working with people, dealing with stress, and adapting to new situations, they are skills you don't get from books. So yes, daily life is full of challenges. Homesickness, language, cultural differences. But it's also full of... But it's also full of small victories. And these victories are keep... And this vi... So yes, daily life is full... So yes, daily life is full of challenges. Homesickness, language, cultural differences. But it's also full of small victories. And these victories are what keep me motivated. Then I'm going to talk you... Then I'm going to tell you a little bit about what studying at Buhmann Academy is actually like. Before coming here, I also studied at a traditional university in Hannover. So I can compare. I can compare the two. Before coming here, I also studied at a traditional university in Hannover. So I can compare the two. At university, the classes were hard, and sometimes you didn't even know the professor's name. Or if the professor even knew you exist. At university, the classes were hard, and sometimes you felt if the professor even knew you exist. It felt a bit distant, to be honest. But Buhmann is very, very different, I can tell you. Here we usually have small classes, and we even have a homeroom teacher. We always sit in the same classroom, and the teachers actually know us. That makes a big difference, because you feel support and guide all the time. If you have a question or a problem, you don't feel lost. I really like that. Another cool part is teamwork. We often work in groups, which can be fun, and sometimes also a bit cowardice. But it teaches you so much to be reliable, to communicate clearly, and to take responsibility. In the end, you realize that working in a team is not always easy, but it really prepares you for the real world. In the end, you realize... Another cool part is teamwork. In the end, you realize that working in a team is not always easy, but it really prepares you for the real world. Speaking of the real world, let me tell you about my study program. I studied international management, and after the third semester, we had to do a six-week internship. I worked in the accounting and finance department of a photovoltaic company. And to be honest, it was a weird experience, because for the first time I could finally connect theory with practice. You know, it's one thing to learn about numbers and balance sheets in class, but it's completely different when you see it as a text and actually do it. And you know what? I discovered that working from 9 to 5 is not as boring as I thought. I swear. And I actually enjoyed it. The best part is this experience is now on my CV. For Earth students, that's fantastic, because it makes us much better prepared for job applications after graduation. And honestly, I think that's one of the best things about studying here. When I look back on my journey so far, I realized one thing. Being an international student abroad is not easy, but it can be really tough sometimes. But at the same time, it makes you stronger and stronger. Every challenge, whether it's the language, the culture, or even just finding your way in a new city, teaches you something valuable. My advice to anyone who is thinking about studying abroad is simple. Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't be shy. Be open to vary upon it here, even if it looks scary at first. And sometimes the hardest situation becomes the best lesson. And most importantly, enjoy the journey. Because one day you'll look back and realize that even difficult moments were part of what made you grow. And most importantly, enjoy the journey. So, that's what my little story is as an international student at Duman Academy, from Vietnam to Hanover, from language structures to internships, from big challenges to small victories. This has been quite a ride.
