In this podcast, Nico Haas discusses his piece of writing on the topic of the black gaze in Kanye West's music video, "Wash Us In The Blood." He explores how society handles media and the struggles faced by the black community. The music video showcases both the brutality and beauty of being black, including scenes of church settings. Nico believes that society can do more to accept and appreciate different cultures, and hopes his writing can shift perspectives on how the black community should be treated. Thanks for listening in. My name is Nico Haas, and on today's podcast, we'll be talking about my work, Changing Your Perspective, one music video at a time. With there being so many social norms changing around us, and so much going on, it's hard to grasp at an idea or a topic due to the public overcrowding the media. I wrote a piece of writing about a topic I feel the media doesn't cover enough, and it's about a black gaze. I go into detail using Tina Kemp's way of thinking, which allowed me to use critical thinking, and I applied it to Kanye West's music video, Wash Us In The Blood. The issues I explored in my piece of writing were highlights of what Kanye West was portraying through his music video, Wash Us In The Blood. Some topics I explored in my piece of writing were how our society handles any type of media, and how our society puts certain types of media out there regarding blackness and the struggles the black community faces. Kanye West made this music video, Wash Us In The Blood, foreshadowing his experiences with being black and how brutal it can be at times, but he also shows some beauty within the culture as well throughout his music video. One example of the beauty was his religion and his faith, and there were some scenes in the music video of the church setting within the black community. There's some other topics that I explored within my piece of writing, and there's so many more things we as a society in America can do to adapt to more modernized ideas to accept everyone's culture in the future, and I hope today's podcast, foreshadowing what I go deeper into on my piece of writing, can help shift your perspective on how the black community deserves to be treated now and ongoing into the future. Thanks again for listening in. My name is Nico Haas, and I hope my piece of writing is just one aspect that can shift your perspective.
