We suffer as consumers when food producers lose their land, temporarily or permanently. Landscapes and land use change due to climate extremes, especially prolonged flooding periods and droughts. However, those who suffer the most financially are arguably the working landowners and farming staff. Does that not mean we should compensate them when their livelihoods depend on it?
