I live in the Low Country of South Carolina....and I had been thinking about the old rice plantations off and on for a few days...trying to put myself into the shoes of a Caribbean slave and imagining what it would be like...and the next thing I know I'm down another rabbit hole without bothering to tie off first... the music took time, but the lyrics came organically and were recorded first take.
