In part 1, Wynter describes the semiolinguistic tactics of the living languaging world of the West. She discovers CLASSARCHY-the dominance of the middle class, a hybrid form of Patriarchy and Monarchy- to be that which projects women's so called "natural" social place as well as socially produces it as NOT-MAN, i.e NOT-NORM. Tracing a geneology of "MAN" from it's Liberal (Man-as Norm) and it's Marxist-Lenist forms (Man-as Labor), Wynter demands an autonomous frame of reference!
