The person is planning to go to Xi'an with some friends during the summer vacation. Xi'an is a famous ancient city in China with many historical sites like the Terracotta Warriors and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It takes about 12-13 hours to drive from Beijing to Xi'an. They prefer not to join a tour group as everyone ends up going to the same places and taking the same photos. They think it's better to go on their own, choose the travel destinations they like, stay in local accommodations, and have more freedom.
