The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as LDS, is a Christian restoration that believes it is the original Church of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was the first prophet and translated the Book of Mormon. The LDS community faced persecution and had to leave their homes. They eventually settled in Utah, where the church's headquarters is now located. The Church has established congregations all over the world, called wars or branches, and built temples worldwide. In 1810, Joseph Smith was the first prophet of the Church. He was a visionary. He also translated the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ. In 1844, Joseph Smith was killed in a bullying by a mob. In 1845, the LDS community was forced to leave. The new leader, Brigham Young, led the remaining members of the Church, crossing the Mississippi River into Iowa. In 1844 to 1847, the LDS community was searching for a permanent home, but many citizens of the United States disagreed with this new religion, and they were attacked several times for their faith. In 1847, LDS immigrants arrived, and so late but late, they immediately planted crops and began building houses. In 1848, Utah was part of the United States, and the LDS members built settlements in Utah. Currently, the headquarters of the LDS Church is in Salt Lake City, Utah.
