In the 1970s, military dictatorships were established in Argentina and other Latin American countries with the support of the United States through the Plan Condor. This was a formal system of repressive coordination among the countries of the Southern Cone that aimed to persecute and eliminate political, social, trade union, and student activists. En respuesta a estos movimientos, en la década del 70, tanto en Argentina y países latinoamericanos se producen dictaduras militares con el apoyo de Estados Unidos a través del denominado Plan Condor. Este fue un sistema formal de coordinación represiva entre los países del Cono Sur que sirvió para perseguir y eliminar a militantes políticos, sociales, sindicales y estudiantiles.
