The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) have different origins, functions, and influences. The IRGC, formed after the Iranian Revolution in 1979, not only protects the Islamic Republic but also has political, economic, and regional influence in the Middle East. The PLA, on the other hand, is governed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and primarily focuses on national defense with a conventional military structure and regional presence in the South China Sea. the IRGC, and the China's People's Liberation Army. Although the People's Liberation of China and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps emerged from the Chinese Civil War in 1949 and the Iranian Revolution in 1979, respectively, their formalities, functions, and influences differ greatly. Founded to protect the Islamic Republic and the IRGC now has political, economic, regional sway throughout the Middle East, in addition to its military duties. On the other hand, the PLA, which is directly governed by the CCP, has conventional military structure and regional presence in the South China Sea, and its main objective is national defense.
