The speaker discusses recent NFL football games, including the Panthers' first win of the season and Patrick Mahomes' first loss to the Broncos. They also mention the NFC West division and the trade deadline, highlighting the Seahawks' acquisition of Leonard Williams and the Giants' decision to trade away a player. The speaker also discusses the trade of Washington's defensive linemen Chase Young and Montez Sweat, expressing surprise at the decision. They analyze the impact of the trades on the teams involved and offer fantasy football advice. The speaker then discusses the NFC West teams, focusing on the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, and highlights the strengths and weaknesses of each team. They mention the Carolina Panthers' first win of the season and express optimism about the team's future. All right, everybody, what's up? We are back. Another week of NFL football has happened. I'm here to talk about it with you all. We have the Panthers' first win of the year. We have Patrick Mahomes' first ever loss to the Broncos. We have whatever's going on in the NFC West right now, 49ers on the down, Seahawks on the up. Will Levis made his NFL debut. We'll see what happened with that. And we got to talk about a few other teams in the NFC, because the playoff picture's going to shape up real soon, and there's going to be a lot of teams fighting in those wildcard spots. And obviously, after all that, I have some fantasy football advice for you. I've done my research. I'm ready to go with that. But before we start anything else, the trade deadline was this week. It was Tuesday. It ended at 4 p.m., and we had a few interesting trades. There was not a lot that was too mind-blowing, but we had Leonard Williams to the Seahawks, and I think the Seahawks gave up a little too much for a guy like Leonard Williams at this point in his career. He's only going to get older. I've never been in love with him as an NFL player, and they gave up a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick. It addressed an area of need for Seattle, for sure, but I just really don't know if this is the move that they should have made, knowing that Montez Sweat and Chase Young were available for less, and they're, I think, both better players. So that's one thing that I definitely would have said, but I don't hate the move for sure for Seattle. It helps them out severely, and I think they're a really serious team in the playoffs this year. So you can never hate a buy-in move like that. I'm going to talk more about that when we get to some later trades. But for the Giants side of things, this is good. They're blowing it up. They know it's time to get off bad contracts, gather more draft picks, because this season has not turned out the way they've hoped it has. Last year, they won a playoff game. They made the playoffs for the first time in who knows how long, and Daniel Jones looked like a pretty solid quarterback. This year, Daniel Jones has been injured when he has been playing. He's not been good, and it's just a rough situation for New York. So last year was kind of a fluky year. No one in the New York front office has realized that, and so they shipped off a not great contract for them. It didn't really fit their timeline. He was an older player who cost a lot of money, and when you're bad, typically, you'd like to start getting cheaper talent and younger guys to develop. So good deal for New York, good deal for Seattle. I don't really have too much else to say about that. There were a few smaller trades here and there, but the only two I'm going to talk about now is Washington shipping away their two best defensive linemen in Chase Young and Montez Sweat. These moves kind of surprised me. Er, well, the Montez Sweat and Chase Young moves surprised me. I didn't think they would get rid of both of them. That didn't really make too much sense to me, because while Washington does have a lot of holes on their roster, and they're by no means a good team at all, I kind of thought they were trying to trend in the direction of being competitive. So selling away two of your better players was kind of a shock to me. I thought you'd get rid of one, maybe get rid of Chase Young, because he's a bigger question mark than Montez Sweat, and then keep rolling with him, and then see what assets you could get. But I also understood the other side of it, where you would keep the younger raw prospect in Chase Young and ship Montez Sweat off for some guaranteed picks. But you can't hate getting the return that they got, because it's off the books for them, money-wise. They got really nice picks. I think they got a day, a day, two day two picks in a second and a third rounder, and a fifth rounder for those guys. That's pretty nice capital for two, two pretty good players. So for Chicago, I liked the move to get Montez Sweat. They needed a boost on that defensive line. It was pitiful. Montez Sweat, on his own, has six and a half sacks this year, and the entire Bears defense has, I think, six sacks this year. So they needed the juice, and they went out and they got it. And there's not much else I have to say about that trade. That one, in my eyes, was the more boring of the two. The really explosive one was trading Chase Young to the San Francisco 49ers, who needed a spark, and I think this was a perfect move for them. Because I was going over some tape of the Bengals-49ers game, and I saw that Nick Bosa was bullying every offensive lineman he went up against. He was constantly creating pressure. He wasn't bringing any sacks in, I don't think, but he was constantly creating pressure, getting hits, and on the other side, there was just nothing. They needed another player to go in there and create some havoc. And while Chase Young isn't the greatest player of all time, he's not the most solid guy out there, he's got the tools that if you bring him into San Francisco, he's going to have a hell of a season. And the only thing that I wonder about with them is if they're going to be able to get a long-term extension then, because I think that Chase Claypool's contract is up at the end of this year, so I wonder if they traded a third-round pick for just a couple games rental of Chase Young to really try and win that Super Bowl go-all-in. And I wouldn't mind that, just, I think about a seven-game rental, and then the playoffs. I think that would be fine in San Francisco's point of view, but other teams, that wouldn't be so good for it if you weren't in the same boat as the 49ers. I think we're just going to roll right into this now with talking about the NFC West and what's going on there. I know it's not the first thing I have in my notes, but we just talked about both teams, they both made big trades at the deadline to try and boost their rosters and their defensive lines, so let's get down and see what's up with them. Starting off with Seattle, they're a team that's really hot right now. Geno, while he hasn't been playing his best ball, has been playing good enough to keep them afloat, keep them winning games. But the rest of the team is playing fantastic. The offensive line is giving Geno a lot of time. The running backs are explosive, both Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonneau, and the wide receiving core is obviously amazing, despite the fact that DK's battled some injuries and missed a game. They haven't fallen off at all, they look incredible. And the defense, which I thought would be a weakness of this team, I thought teams would be able to run all over the Seattle Seahawks, they've really shut it down. They can stop the run, they can lock down with Devon Witherspoon and Reek Woolen, Jamal Adams is back, Julian Love is looking like a really nice pickup for them. I think they're a prime team to fight for this division and make some serious noise in the playoffs. But the one thing that I think might hold them back is that they are the most penalized team in the NFL right now, and you can't be having mistakes like that in the playoffs and in the playoff race. If you're going toe-to-toe with San Francisco for the division, you have to be on your A-game always, and you can't do that if you're constantly setting yourself up to go backwards with holding calls and illegal hands-to-the-face I saw and false starts. You can't be making those dumb mistakes and beating yourself before the other team even has a chance to beat you. So that's just one thing for them that I'm concerned about. I don't think it's going to stick, because I know that Pete Carroll is an amazing coach and that the rest of that coaching staff is going to work that right out of them, obviously they know it's a problem, so I don't anticipate that being much of an issue for them later in the year. However, one issue, even if you get all those penalties out of the way, you still have to go band for band with the San Francisco 49ers, and that's not something that's easy to do. If you look around at San Francisco's team, despite the fact that they're on a bit of a losing streak, I think Seattle only beats them in like one or two areas. I think San Francisco has the better offensive line, the better defensive line, I'd rather have Shanahan than Pete Carroll, and in my opinion, I think the skill position players for 49ers are better. I don't know if DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jackson Smith and Jigba, and Kenneth Walker can even hold a stick up to Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Ayuk. I think pretty much everywhere, except for quarterback, and the secondary I'll give to Seattle as well. I think San Francisco vastly outmatches them, and despite the fact that they're on a bit of a losing streak, I still believe in San Francisco to come out of the NFC, as I think they're still undoubtedly the best team in that conference. Moving on though, everyone, get your hands ready to clap for the Carolina Panthers, baby! They won their first game! Woo! 1-6. Who's excited for them? They're really looking hot, win streak time, but in all seriousness, I mean, good win for them. They went out there and they beat the Houston Texans, who I have a lot of respect for, I think are one of the better young and up-and-coming teams, and Carolina went in there, their defense held them strong. The offense didn't look fantastic, but they have a new play caller, and it's looked much improved since the first few weeks, and I really like the direction Carolina's going, but I think it's really nice that they finally got their first win, because no team wants to be the team that hasn't won anything yet, obviously, but like, no team wants to be the only team with zero wins in the league. It's just demoralizing for them, they look around the league, they see everyone else, so getting that first win has got to hit different in the locker room, it's got to make the team believe a little more, and I think they can start trending up just a little bit. They're still not a perfect team, they've still got a bunch of flaws, but I believe that they can win probably five or six games this year. Looking out into the Carolina future, it's still not super bright. Their wide receivers aren't great, their defensive depth is awful, and no one's really sure what they're going to do with Brian Burns, because he's up for a big contract, and does he really fit the timeline of the team now? I'm not too sure, so we'll wait and see what happens with him and the rest of the team, but there's a lot of holes, and they don't even have their first-round pick, they had to trade it to get Bryce Young in the first place, who has looked pretty good and strong so far, but we'll see how well that turns out for them in the long run, because they are still incredibly needy in a bunch of different areas. But we just had a nice round of applause for the Carolina Panthers, now it's time to get your booze out, throw your tomatoes, the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Denver Broncos, dude, what the hell, Patrick Mahomes' flu game was nothing, he was disgusting, I tried to watch some of that game, because first of all, it was reported that it was going to be a snow game, I saw it all over my Instagram, then I turned to the actual game, it's like just Denver, there's nothing cool about it at all, I got so excited, like CBS Sports got my hopes up, and there was nothing, I was so disappointed, but nothing could have disappointed me more than how Patrick Mahomes played, he looked like a shell of him former self, man, Jackson Mahomes must have been out there or something, they kidnapped Patrick, it was just awful, dude, bad uncharacteristic interceptions, no creation outside of the pocket, all the things that make Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes, he wasn't doing, and he was just, you gotta cut him some slack, because I'm sure he was sick, he was added to the injury report because he was that sick, so that's how you know it was pretty bad, but you gotta go out there, and you gotta put a better result in than that, and if you can't do that, just put in the backup, it's not that big of a deal, you know, just for one game, but if I'm being honest, maybe Denver would have given Kansas City a run for their money even if he was healthy, the Broncos are looking super strong, I know you saw those Russell Wilson stats that were posted two or three days ago, he's top five in a bunch of different things this year, he's really turned it around, and he isn't playing his greatest ball anymore, he's washed, he's never gonna be what he once was, but he's playing like a game-manager-y consistent type of role for the Denver Broncos, and if their defense can just get it together, I think they'll be a pretty strong team, even though Russell Wilson costs way too much money, and there's really no way to get off of it for a while, so it's good that he's playing pretty good, but he's not the long-term solution, and I still think they should try and move off of him, if they could, but for right now, he's looking pretty bright in Denver, despite the fact that their record isn't all that great, and they're a team that I'm shocked didn't do anything at the deadline, they were chopped up to be huge sellers, Judy was supposed to be gone, Sutton might have been gone, there were talks that Patricks or Tan could have been moved, I don't know how real all of those reports were, but I saw them, they existed, so it's just interesting that they didn't do anything, and I kinda wonder what the next move is for Sean Payton and this team, because they still need a lot, and I don't know how they're gonna get it all, because they can't make any splashes in free agency with the Russell Wilson contract, and you just gotta hope that they can draft really well the next two, three, four years to kinda get them out of this disaster class that they've had the last two years in Denver, their off-seasons have been atrocious. The Randy Gregory signing looks bad, he's not on the team anymore, obviously the Russell Wilson signing is bad, and they haven't added any quality depth behind Patricks or Tan, so it's really hard for me to see how they turn it around this year, or the next year for that matter. They had a good week this week, but I'm just not sure how bright that future's looking. Now we can flip, though, to some future that looks pretty bright out in Tennessee, Will Levis came out, baby, he was swinging, and he, he was real strong, I don't know what else to say. He came out there, his arm talent was on full display, and it wasn't the hardest game plan for them to run, not the hardest system, a lot of play-acts and a lot of easy stuff, but he took it, and he made the most of it. It's rare to see rookie quarterbacks come in and want to take giant bombs down the field, most of them are just fine with the five-yard check-down, and the, just the dink and dunk stuff. But Levis looked really strong. He came out there, he was accurate, he awoke DeHoff, DeHoff hadn't had a game like that in years, and the entire Tennessee team seemed to feed off the energy. Everyone was talking great about Levis, everyone seems fired up about it, and they got the W, so I think this is a really good move for them, and what they're going to do with Ryan Tannehill, I think they've got to trade him or cut him if they can't find a partner. I think Will Levis is a guy that they can use for a long time. He, I don't want to compare him to this, because he'll never be Justin Herbert, but I think he can be a little Justin Herbert-like, you know, crazy arm talent, incredibly strong, huge frame, athletic. That's the Justin Herbert mold out there, and that's what I saw watching him, so I'm really excited for the Will Levis saga, especially because I think that they have needed an upgraded quarterback for such a long time to elevate them, because they have some pretty old players who are trying to, you know, play out the end of their careers, like Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins, but they have a mix of young guys, too, like Tajay Spears and Trelon Burks, who isn't amazing by any means, but he did look pretty good last week, so since they have the right coach and the right general manager in the front office, I think that now that they've got a guy in Will Levis, I think they can take themselves out of the mediocre, boring, you know, aura that is Tennessee, and maybe turn them into potential Super Bowl contenders? Maybe? Get ready? Who knows? Because don't forget, just a few short years ago, they were the one seed with Ryan Tannehill, so if they can find a potential upgrade and keep adding to this team like they have been the past few years, I'm really excited to see what happens with Tennessee, and I think the sky's the limit for Will Levis. Moving on now, we're going to talk about the NFC, we're going to switch conferences here, and we're going to talk first about a team that needs a lot of work and a team that's really underwhelming me this year, and that is the Green Bay Packers, man. They have just disappointed me in every way. I got so hyped on Jordan Love and his connection with all these young receivers, but they just aren't there yet. They're too young, they're too inexperienced, they can't run the right route on offense. The defense keeps getting cooked, Jair Alexander every week is going out there and getting burnt like toast, and then he's chilling in the locker room, after the game he's like, it's nothing, it's nothing, it's fake, it's a fraud, I don't know, but he's just trying to make up for the fact that he's washed and his prime was three years ago, he's gotta get over it. But Jair Alexander's slander aside, I'll say that five times fast, it's just not looking good. It's too young on the offense, they haven't had time to mesh yet, and I think they will look better, the future's really bright, especially because they're so cheap. There is no money tied up anywhere on that offense, so they have the ability to go out there and sign a big free agent, make a big move, but as of right now, they're really disappointing me. I had them in the playoffs, and now I think they're gonna be a top ten pick. And I've seen a lot of Packers fans calling for Mike LaFleur to get fired, and for them to get a new head coach, I don't think that's what should be happening at all. This is a new era for Green Bay, and it's something that they're not really used to, because they were blessed with back-to-back-to-back all-star quarterback play, they had Aaron Rodgers for the last 20 years, four MVPs and a championship, they had Brett Favre before that, who, notorious evil guy, don't trust him with your charity donations, but he was a great quarterback when he played, and then back when, like, plumbers were playing professional sports, and there was grandpas out there doing everything, they had Bart Starr, who could win them some games, I guess, but nonetheless, the point still stands that Green Bay needs to realize that this is a young team that needs to develop chemistry and develop their skills a little more, and I think the future's bright in Green Bay, especially because of the contracts everyone's on, so everyone just needs to calm down, take a chill pill, and I promise you guys will get over it and you'll be fine. A team that is very fun, though, high-flying, smooth sailing, chillin' out, the Dallas Cowboys absolutely throttled the Los Angeles Rams, baby. The Dallas Cowboys went out there and dropped 43 on them. They are the most explosive offense in the league at times. They've put up 40 and 35 multiple times throughout the point in this season, and CeeDee Lamb cannot be stopped. 12 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns in one game, that's embarrassing against another NFL defense. Oh my god, he went out there and he sunned them all, and the defense is playing lights out as well. I'm not gonna lie, I thought it was over for the Cowboys when they lost Trayvon Diggs because he was so dynamic, he was their top corner, and Stephon Diggs hadn't been playing great, but lo and behold, Daron Bland comes out of nowhere, picks off Mac Jones twice, and suddenly everything's all good. He's been playing phenomenal, he has three pick sixes already, and he's locking teams down, so they've got depth and they've got talent. It's really scary for teams going up against Dallas, and I can't wait for them to play the Eagles this week because it's gonna get crazy. That's gonna be a bloodbath for sure. It's gonna be electric, high-scoring, incredible game, just one of those games where you know it's gonna get crazy. Cowboys-Eagles is always nuts, but especially because both teams are at the top of the league right now, I'm so excited for this game, especially because whoever wins this game might come away with the division. If Dallas comes away with this division, they've got a serious shot at making a long postseason run, which is something they haven't been able to do for years and have caught in so much slack for it. But in the end, they might just end up losing to San Francisco again for the third year in a row in embarrassing fashion in the playoffs, but we'll have to wait and see for all that. That wraps up my week review. I hope you all enjoyed that. Now it's time to move on to our fantasy football segment. I've got some starts, some shits, some general opinions to give out to y'all, and we're gonna start it out here with a guy who I really like this week, and that's Alvin Kamara. He's looking strong again. He's never going to be who he once was, but he's making a pretty strong comeback after missing the first few weeks of the year. He should definitely be in your starting lineup, especially in those shallower leagues where he might be on your bench most weeks. I think he's got a pretty favorable matchup against the Falcons this week, especially as a receiver. He's gonna get those touches out of the backfield, and he's gonna make the most of them. Also really quick, just a nice little go-by-me, Desmond Ritter was benched this week. They finally realized he's bad and stinks, so hopefully this means a bounce back for Kyle Pitts and Drake London, so we'll see what happens with that, but they're not on my list. I just wanted to mention that. Someone who is on my list as a start is Raheem Mostert. He is so insane. Don't let the fact that they're playing the Chiefs scare you, because he's a huge part of that offense. He's dominating. He's in every single play because he's such an asset in the rushing game and the passing game, so he's a guy who's gonna stay on the field a lot, and a guy who's gonna get a lot of looks and a lot of chances throughout the rest of the year, because Jeff Wilson isn't a serious threat to him in the backfield, and A-chain is still injured, so it's Raheem Mostert's backfield to feast in for a while. My last guy who you should start this week is a guy who I've had on the sit list sometimes, a guy who I've kind of been skeptical about here and there, but I think Mike Evans is just a bona fide start. He's a guy you should have in your lineup every week, no matter the matchup. I've learned it doesn't matter, even with Baker Mayfield back there. He's gonna get the looks, he's gonna get the targets, and he's gonna make the most of them. I was overthinking it way too much. Just keep Mike Evans in your lineup. Now it's time to move on to the sits. These are guys you should start to look to replace, move out of the lineup, and just find better options for. The first guy, it might suck to hear, but it's Austin Eckler. I know you spent that high pick on him, I know he's a guy who cares about your fantasy football team, but he's just not putting up the production we need. He's never, like, leading his team in rushing. He isn't getting a lot of carries, and he's not seeing the field as much as he used to, and that just doesn't lead to a good NFL running back, and that obviously doesn't lead to a good fantasy back either. So he's a guy who, if you can trade, you should trade, and if you're in one of those really shallow leagues, like the 4 or the 8 man, I wouldn't have him in my lineup. Another guy who is starting not to fall off, but getting out-snapped actually by his backup is Kenneth Walker. Last week, the Seahawks actually had more plays with Zach Charbonnet than with Kenneth Walker. It was 51-49, which obviously isn't a crazy statistic they got equal time about, but Kenneth Walker's snap share has gone down every week, and Zach Charbonnet's is only going up. So you never want a guy in a split backfield in the first place, but now that they're taking his snaps away in favor of Charbonnet's, I think he's a guy that you look at as maybe a flex play sometimes, but not a super serious threat to be a fantasy football starter, RB1, RB2. And the last thing I have is just be careful with Cooper Cupp and Puka Nakua, because they're obviously beasts when Stafford is healthy, but right now Stafford's injuring that thumb, he's nursing it back to health, and it could lead to some bad things, because neither of them led their team in receiving against the Cowboys. It was actually the running back, Darryl whatever his name is, who cares, but it wasn't Cooper Cupp and it wasn't Puka Nakua, so if Stafford's injured and they both have to split carries, it could mean some pretty rough things for Cupp and Nakua coming up. But obviously you can't deny the talent, you can't deny that they're trying to get the ball to both of those guys. So they're more of just like bewares than actual shit. And that's it for me today, we went over some good teams, some bad teams, some interesting things that happened this week, we talked about the trade deadline, and we hit fantasy football. I'd say we had quite the productive podcast. If you liked it, let me know, keep coming back, keep listening, there's a new podcast out every Wednesday, so keep coming back, and I will see you all next week.
