Welcome friends, I'm your host Amy Torkelson here at the City Farm Empowered helping you take the next best step next. I am so excited to share this journey with you and to start this new adventure in along with many adventures in my life right now and I've had this just image of this little baby seedling in the greenhouse and I feel like that's the analogy of where I'm at in life right now is I've been in the greenhouse and I've been in this warm protected space and it's time for me to be put in a garden and you know when you have a little starter tray and all the roots are in there they start wrapping around each other and then when you go to put it in the ground the amount of roots can sustain three times as big of a plant so when you put it in the ground the plant automatically grows exponentially and so I kind of feel like that's where I'm at is I've been in the greenhouse and I'm ready to be put in the garden and I'm going to share a handful of those things that are growing and flourishing right now in my life and in the City Farm journey and first is the Live Empowered Lead Empowered book launch. So I've been working on this book for about three years now I think it was written in about a year but with the waiting period and then editing it's finally ready to share with the world. So the book is about challenging and encouraging you to take the next step to living the life you've dreamed and helping people identify fears and false beliefs that hold them back like at the end of each chapter there's questions to reflect in your own life or action steps things to help you apply the information into your life and taking small steps into the life you want to create. So that is going to be in the very near future along with that we have launched our Airbnb which is a room in our home that is ready for guests to come and just be invited to be part of our life. There's so many things in our life that at one point were novel to me and now our routine and I would have loved to walk alongside and watch somebody do that and so we're offering that opportunity where the things that might seem mundane or just routine at this point or at some point novel and we want to offer basically hand-holding. I believe that we just need to hold people's hands long enough for them to feel comfortable doing it on their own and I know that I'm the kind of learner that I won't remember step two until I've done step one and so there's so many things that I think we could learn from each other by just living life together and so kind of sidestep back to the book when the book is published that will come with a website and on the website among many things there will be a calendar that is laying out the projects that we're working on what's coming in the near future and so people can book their stay based on what they're looking forward to or wanting to learn. So we'll have the big events like we do with our community like the caroling and girls clothes exchange and some of those bigger events but then we're also going to have our daily life things like harvesting garlic and doing garlic infused honey and you know we'll have our honey extracting and quail butchering and activities like that where people can see what their next step is and just come and walk alongside of that so super excited for that and to open our home and just invite other people in serve them and serve with them and just learn together. So another thing is obviously this podcast that you're listening to I'm so excited to share with you. I dream of this podcast being a place where people share their dreams and their visions so one of the ways that this connects is with Airbnb when people come to stay I want to do a dream session with every person that comes to stay at the farm because I want to hear about what inspires people what motivates them where did this come from and what are the steps that they're taking to reach their dream and maybe uncover some of those lies and false beliefs that are keeping them from taking the next step and challenging them to be brave and I hope to see this come full circle in many ways one of them being as people come year after year to continue that relationship and see the ways that they're growing so for you as the listener to hear all the inspiration all the ideas all the things that people are dreaming about and then also the roadblocks the setbacks and the things that people are overcoming to face their dreams not just to follow the city farm journey but to follow in here and be inspired by the journey of so many people that are dreaming so I'm excited to grow with you and you are changing the world
